Re: best addiction ever

Total score of: 67 (50 to 79, Above Average)

Your score falls within the range of 50 to 79 and indicates you are experiencing occasional or frequent problems because of the internet. You should consider their full impact on your life.

Re: Best Addiction Ever

Total score of: 82 (80 to 100, Significantly Above Average)

Your total score of 80 or above indicates that your internet usage is causing significant problems in your life. You may benefit from evaluating the impact of the internet on your life and addressing the problems directly caused by your internet usage

Re: Best Addiction Ever

Total score of: 48 (20 to 49, Average Range)

Your score falls within the range of 20 to 49 and is within the average range. You may surf the Web a bit too long at times, but you have control over your usage.

Re: Best Addiction Ever

The way the test is set up, it gives you a higher score if you feel the internet has a larger impact on your life outside the computer. I myself scored a 56. However if I felt that the internet were truly a problem I would have answered questions differently. The test also dose not discriminate between those who spend more time on the internet because they have some work related responsibilities on the internet. Example: I always spend more time on the internet than I really want to because of work related things with my side business, however project ego may spend the same time or more than I do and feel that it was just enough time to do what he needed.
Because the test is based on how a certain individual thinks about their own actions and not some type of time limit based on occupation, then the results of such a test will only show you if you think you are addicted or not.

well, for one thing everyone has different limits, so the main way to know if you do in fact have an addiction is if you feel that you have a problem...
secondly, if you really took the test, you would have seen that the questions were not purely time based...
there were questions such as whether you ever lie about your usage or become defensive about it, whether you prefer using to intimacy with your partner, whether loved ones have complained about your usage, whether you have cravings for it when not using...
these are most certainly not adaptive behaviours and are used in a dagnosis of any addiction, internet or otherwise... I would argue that anyone who thought they didn't have an addiction, were they to realize they were exhibitng these behaviours, would need to reevaluate that notion...

Excellent point; however, when someone is addicted to anything they do not usually feel addicted and this would affect how they answer a test on their addiction.

I did in fact take the test and my previous assessment was based off of what I saw. My point was that I did not believe the results weighed heavily enough on time.

Yes, these questions were important to the results and I agree that if one were to answer the questions honestly they may see they have a problem. However, if one were truly addicted they may not see themselves as lying about their usage or preferring internet to intimacy. They might see it as having to get work done rather than enjoy time with there wife or having to lie not because they were addicted but because those around them would look poorly on them. Not to mention that each answer had a point value 1-5 and 0 if that question did not apply to you. If you felt the question did not apply then you would automatically get the lowest score. Exp. If you consider yourself to be an insomniac then the question of losing sleep would not apply.
In conclusion this test like any other will never be perfect and should always strive to improve itself for better results. Also it works best if someone can be truly honest with themselves. Although if someone could be truly honest with themselves then they would know if they had a problem with the internet or any other addiction.
