Bethesda Plan 9 - 12 Endings For Fallout 3

The highly awaited RPG by Bethesda, Fallout 3 will have somewhere between nine to 12 different endings depending on your actions in the game according to a recent interview with Pete Hines.

Pete Hines said:
The game's not like Oblivion, where basically anybody could do anything. Fallout 3 is fewer number of quests with lots of ways to complete them and things are opened up to you or locked off to you as you go through the game. There will be somewhere between nine to 12 different endings to the game based on what you've done in the game. So it's something that is inherently a diverging path. It may be some of the same things but doing them in very different ways, and ultimately that will define your gameplay experience.

Sounds interesting enough.

I just wish people would actually give it a chance, though: It's hard to find news for it without finding the news is presented from a highly opinionated "Bethesda Is The Devil Incarnate!" point of view. I know it's not like the old Fallouts, but it still seems like it could turn out very good to me. Blech.

I think it will show a new side to the Fallout series and people should respect what Bethesda are doing.

Meh. Fallout 1 and 2 are two very original games with their own style and humour. I don't really think there should be "a new side to the Fallout series" at all. I think they would have been better of making another similar themed game, but not use the Fallout name.

Also worried it will turn out into a horrid mix of Oblivion+"Teh Future".... :(

Having never played either Fallout or Fallout 2 and only knowing what i know about it from research i cant say much. However do you think that old skool style would translate well to games of today? Do you think this gen of gamers would appreciate it if Fallout 3 was in the same style or would it just look dated? I know many people arent happy with what Bethesda are doing with the series and many Oblivion haters have surfaced because of it but Bethesda must know what they are doing and felt this was best way to bring the series to this age of gaming. I couldnt say with any real conviction that i would have played the old ones with what i know about them. The style probably wouldnt have suited me back in the day and wasnt really my type of game. However the new one to me looks superb and is what got me interested in the series and is the reason i looked more into the games.

To be frank - an overhead view like in the old games, updated to the graphics of today's next-gen would be totally *****in' for Fallout 3.

There are enough third and first person games as it is, making an old school overhead view game would hit home with people like me.

But what I am more worried about is the dark comical stylings of the old games. Even if they lose the visual style, the humour must remain.

a question: will it be a strategy game kind of view or will it be like oblivion where you can see distant things?. the movies are see on youtube have crappy graphics

Yeah i see what you mean with the viewpoint, as games like Dragon Age are showing the overhead view is still used quite often today and to good effect. Im sure they can keep the humour there as well as the gritty backdrop and surroundings as from what ive seen, without that it wouldnt even feel like a Fallout game.

Dragon Age only uses overhead view during combat, though... not during regular gameplay...
top-down views make me sick... I don't like games that use them and to me it doesn't come off as very "next-gen"
as for the humour, from all the previews and interviews I've seen they are doing just that, and most of the things that people didn't like about Oblivion, like too few voice actors, people looking like ****, the enemies leveling up with you, etc., have all been gotten rid of... so I don't see why people are so anti Bethesda...

Yeah thats one of the reasons i was put off the original Fallout game, im not a big fan of the overhead views, as well as some other things the game used. I also agree with that view making them look dated as that views an old one and looking long in the tooth now. From what ive seen im quite happy with what Bethesda are doing, i can see why Fallout fans would be unhappy as the idea of changing a game they love so much seems like sacrilege. However it might be a nice change and bring more fans to the series and overall be a good thing to remove some of the dated concepts.

Well, yes, I certainly hope the dark humor remains. But I honestly couldn't give a crap about the battle system of a game remaining the same. I really couldn't. As long as the new one is entertaining in a different way I'm good. Quite frankly, though, while I love the isometric view for some things, I did not enjoy it as much for Fallout for some reason. At any rate, I guess I'm more interested in game settings and stories being good than whether or not they're like previous installments.

What does bother me is, as I said, pretty much completely knocking a game before it's released. I honestly don't think FallOut 3 will sell no matter how good it is because the fanbase will hate it regardless. Which I don't agree to until I've had a chance to play the game myself.

What I've seen and heard so far I'm reasonably happy with, which is not something I would say on any other forum because I'd be killed. Violently.

If fans of the series want to reject it because of their hatred for Bethesda then they might do what could be an excellent game a disservice. If they want to miss out on a good game merely because they are stubborn then thats down to them. They can let the rest of the people who do buy it for the game it is enjoy it.
