Better morality

In fable/fableTLC morality was okay but i think the should change a bit

-Bad:If you a common theif/criminal you should look kinda like a shady fellow black around the eyes and well just... kinda criminalish.

-Good: if you good you should look like a average person brighter hair brighter eyes (not to bright) and be well normalish.

-Evil:if you true evil causeing pain to everything butchering peoples and destroying towns you could start turning in to a demon simular to fable one.

-Holy if you are holy doing greatness every where killing every evil being in the world you could start to be glowing a holy Aura bright hair and bright eyes (maybey a halo)

thats what i think the morality should be like

Re: Better morality

PM has already confirmed a more advanced morality system... more than just evil and good... so your wish has been granted

Re: Better morality

Yeah the morality system needed a MAJOR overhaul, killing bandits in self defence should not be classed as a good deed for one. Also the good/evil system was much too cut and dry and there were no real decisions to be made as nothing really effected the outcome. I think Peter Molyneux has realised this though and made changes accordingly.

Re: Better morality

i think that when evil and good u should get wings feathers when good bat like fuzzy wings when evil and we should be able to unlock powerful new spells when at the peak of whatever morality

Re: Better morality

I actualy didn't play through fable (yet) but as I understand there a just good/evil point so I could kill an inocent and then make som good deeds to balance it, wich makes it kinda dull. Some choices would be harder to make and more harder to make undone:

Holy: always helping and never expecting any payment. Many people will love you, some will think you just to naive and some make take advantage of you (well, you are so good so you just must help me kinda thing)

Good: helping people and take only a minimum fee for youre trouble, you need to eat and just good karma wouldn't place food on youre table if you understand what i mean. People stil like you but you are not a holy knight to them.

Neutral: You might help or might walk away, and if they want yout help they better pay you. You are not love nor hated, just another man/women passing by looking for work. Kinda bounty hunter.

Bad: Take advantage of people in need and always demand great reword. Stealing and cheating is youre way of making profit. Not many will like you and athurotys might try to catch you if you go to far but if you keep low profile most wouldn't try to harm you physicaly. Might get some shady extra jobs as thief or something like that but someday maybe some holy knight wants to stop your action.

Evil: Now we talking about killing, robbing in public and behaving very, very "ungentlemanish", you doing what you like then you like and dont care about nobody. And nobody like you for that, random people might try to stop you themselves or send gaurds in you direction. Ofcourse there will be someone who need your kinda of "help".

Different paths leads to different quests and people will react different to you.

And what about Lawful-Neutral-Chaotic scale in it to?! Following the law or helping anyone in need?
Exemple: Your quest is to find and arest some thief. Later you realize thar he steal just to put som food on the table for his family. Would you arest him and maybe try lower the punishment (lawful good), arest and pay for all his deeds(lawful holy) just arest (-||- neutral) or help him escape (chaotic good) and maybe even paying for his deeds (chaotic holy) ? Ofcourse you can make the same as bad evil (arest him, take everything he stole but keep it for yourself or maybe killing him instead of aresting (chaotic evil if you just kill him and lawful evil if you try to persuade gaurds that he attacked you)

Re: Better morality

Man vic that was a great Morality Description

Re: Better morality

I think the morality system in fable was a little to cut and dry. I mean just by eating tofu you got good pts.

Re: Better morality

Lol I remember that and eating crunchy chicks scored evil for you!

Thanks, most of it is from D&D (Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights) and I add a little larger defenition of Good-Evil, I think it will give larger replay value.

Skiboyne: And don't forget, eating chikens makes you EVIL

I red that Peter is trying to give more different Morality choises but the description he gave soundid kinda lame: You can help some old man find his missing son without payment or...you can kill them all:w00t: What about finding his son and claym ransome or just do this job for money he offers? Maybe his son didn't want to come back (his father treats him bad) and you help him run away instead of taking him to histh. As I said, give me more choises with different consequences so replaying this game wouldn't be just about GOOD/EVIL with almost the same quests

Re: Better morality

+rep Vic. I couldn't have said it better myself! :P

Re: Better morality

One last thing i know remember from some other forum about some game (don't remember what the title is): I You're Evil and kill someone who is Bad, it wouldn't count as a good deed, just kinda selfdefence or a randome killing. Ofcourse this coulnd't work other way around: if you are Holy and kill somebody who is Good it will stil considerd to be a bad thing...unless you do it in the name of AVO! :P

It could be the answer for all people who want to kill bandits but stil be evil

Re: Better morality

I think there should be a self defense detection thing I should be able to defend myself from some guy who randomly attacks me ( ok maybe i flipped him off one to many times...) and still be in the right aslong as i didnt strike the first blow

Re: Better morality

i think it would be cool if when you start becoming extremely evil (beyond balding, turning pale, growing horns, smelling bad, and being surrounded by flies) you get a pair of wings. likewise for the goodness. obviously the wings differ according to alignment. maybe a tail for being downright evil?

Re: Better morality

I strongly think that for being evil i shouldnt have a receding hair line

Re: Better morality

Morality is such a complex deal, nothing can be so easily classified when you apply morality. When you are evil and slay an evil rival, that souldn't count as a good deed seeing as you're mearly thining any competition, not saving the world.

For me, I do my share of deeds labeled "good", but when some high and mighty noble bumps me, is it wrong for me to incinerate him into ash? People will probably be cheering me on. He turned out to be a farcical, butt-tongued prick, but he never killed anyone.

The aspect of lawful-neutral-chaotic does make more sense. I myself am choatic neutral, I do whatever I please with not a care for what becomes of others, the "free-spirit".
