After a long time of denying it was going to happen, its finally been confirmed that the rumours were true. had to chuckle to myself with the phrase on the front of the magazine scan by Sony 'Proof why Xboxs best shooter is better on PS3'. Well that would certainly be one of the first then... :lol:. Although if they couldnt improve it for PS3 after it being out on 360 since August 2007 then there would be something seriously wrong. :lol:

Im happy PS3 owners are getting a chance to play this awesome game. Maybe most wont slate it now just because it was an Xbox 360 and PC exclusive game.

The rumours are true: critically acclaimed Take-Two shooter BioShock is finally, definitely coming to PlayStation 3.

Details are thin on the ground at the moment (i.e. there are none), but the next issue of UK PlayStation mag PSM3 - which is on UK newsstands June 5 - promises a lengthy preview of the PS3 version along with a depth charge of screenshots.

The highly lauded shooter was originally an Xbox 360 exclusive, but rumours of a PS3 version have been surfacing even before its release.

We called Take-Two's UK office who would only give us a flat "no comment". That being the case, expect an official announcement somewhere down the line.

There's another European mag that's touting the game in its upcoming issue too. We're beginning to see a pattern emerging here...

We've no idea what, if anything, the PS3 version will get in the way of extra content. The only extra stuff 360 and PC versions got post-release were new plasmids. But frankly we had such a bloody good time exploring Rapture on PC and 360 that we're well up for another dive on PS3.

Good to know that more people will finally get a chance to play Bioshock now. However for Take-Two, the game won't sell as well as it would have, had they released it for the PS3 much sooner with the 360 & PC versions. Chances are these people have already:

1. Played it by now on their 360 or at a friend's house.

2. Played it on the PC, or pirated the pc version and played it.

3. Ran into spoilers on various websites cause they figured they wouldn't get to play it.

Timed exclusives aren't really the better of decisions, financial-wise.

Im not convinced that it was meant to be a timed exclusive, i think it was meant to remain exclusive to 360 and PC. However somewhere along the line the decision was made to make a PS3 version, lets just hope it fares better than previous ports to the PS3 from 360. 9 months is a hell of a gap i agree there and your right on most points. Wonder if they will have to wait as long for Bioshock 2?

Sony cant make there own games so they have to steal Microsofts what next for Sony they will probably make a rip off of Halo oh wait my mistake they already have its called Kill Zone

I'm pretty sure neither Micro$oft or Sony make their own games.

A while back, 2K said they had no desire to port Bioshock to the PS3, so I'm guessing something must have happened for them to change their decision. I'm wondering if there will be any differences between the 360/PC version and the PS3 version.

The PS3 is the superiour console, in performance. If they do a proper job with the porting, it will most likely be better in a general aspect. However, the main reason why games actually play better on the 360 is 'cause of the PS3 is horrible when trying to make or port a game to it so...

We'll see, I suppose.

We'll see, I suppose.

They seem to suffer from major framerate issues when ported badly, so hopefully with the 9 month gap they have sorted this issue out. Id expect it to have some slightly new content and for it to already come with the Plasmid Pack etc.

The PS3 actually has an inferior graphics chip and though the cell processor is better it is only single core and doesn't allow for multi threading while the xbox has three cores and each allowing for two threads. Basically this means that it depends on how the game is developed as to whether the xbox or the PS3 is superior. If games are developed to take advantage of multithreading then, the xbox will outperform the PS3. The Xbox also has more memory and better use of that memory. For the PS3 it does have a lot more built in like blu-ray and wireless and no RROD

On Topic I'm gald that Bioshock will be available on the PS3 it will be good for it to have a decent line up. This is going to be a good year for the PS3 compared to previous years.

Shame the source engine just refuses to play nice when on the PS3 so Valve wont develop for them because they missed out on some excellent games because of that.

Yeah, it's a fickle beast.

Pretty ironic how Micro$oft is easier to develop games for, if you look back into the whole "closed/open source" controversy they had all those years ago.

There was talk in the industry about the PS2 being quite hard to work with because Sony hid its specs for too long. Then they did the same thing but to a larger extent with the PS3, doesnt make much sense why they hid them for so long. The 360 was already out so why did they have to keep the specs secret for so long? :wacko:

Where I work ther are a few dozen on the Xbox 360 but just two on the PS3
I would be nice if there were some awesome must have games for the PS3 so I'd have an excuse to get one
A Blu-Ray player just isn't compelling enough for me right now seeing as Upconverted DVD's are nearly as good are more available (LOTR) and cost a lot less.

I know about 3 people with a PS3 and 2 others who had one but sold them.
