Can I sing?

I know I'm no Freddie Mercury (Queen for all you ignorant people), but can I sing enough to put on a decent show? Or Busk? Or something?

Re: Can I sing?

you have quite a high voice, (and cool dreads) so your choice of songs may be limited but give it a go, I heard a lot worse (and that's just on american idol!)

Re: Can I sing?

it'd be nice if you sang louder.aside from that it was good.

Re: Can I sing?

If I sang louder you'd hear my real voice :ninja:

And what do you mean I have a high voice?

Re: Can I sing?

well, sorta like the beegee's only you're not stepping on your nutsack.

Re: Can I sing?

I think you could have a good voice if you used it to more powerful songs. As it sounds like your singing at a level to not wake the parents and trying to suppress your voice.

Re: Can I sing?

If I sing louder you hear the full tone of my voice, which isn't really that pleasent.

Have to keep practising getting the right tone for the tracks.

Re: Can I sing?

Yeah tell me about it

Re: Can I sing?

Weird... My range isn't high at all..

Re: Can I sing?

Sounds like you need a really good track to get some adrenaline going and give you the confidence to put some power into your voice and 'lose yourself' in. Soon as you can get a good tone with that it will be easier to match that tone with a quieter, mellow and more subtle track.

Re: Can I sing?

Yeah.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. + rep for all

Re: Can I sing?

Sounded good to me. Not as good as me when I'm singing in the bath or sitting on the pooper, mind, but then again no-one is.

Re: Can I sing?

Honestly? Ok, well you have good tone - you can hold a tune without losing the pitch and you have a soft voice with a hint of vibrato occasionally. As has already been mentioned, you sound as though you are almost afraid to sing up - listening to Layla, you need to vary your volume throughout in order to deliver that song in the manner it ought be done. You say your full voice isn't pleasant but what's probably more the case is perhaps you may think you lack the control necessary to belt without losing the tone/pitch. This is something you can work on no problem with some practice.

Enunciate - work on your diction (which may not be an issue if you are singing at your regular volume; it's just with a quieter sound it can be harder for the listener to understand what you are singing).

You have a good voice, IMO, and whilst I'm no Simon Cowell (my trousers don't go as high) I've heard A LOT of people sing and what you have sounds good - busking wise you could manage it with two additions - more volume and good acoustics like a subway or tunnel. If you kept a quieter voice then you need to think about doing something like a pub or somewhere with some amplification.

You keep in tune, you sound good - just be a little bolder and allow your voice to direct you towards those songs which bring out the best in it. I liked it

Re: Can I sing?

Yeah, you have a nice soft voice there.

I totally agree with that.

Although it`s always good to be on tune, you shouldn`t control your voice too much. If you start to sing more freely, more wrong notes come in, but as you practice, these should go away.
Also, if you sing high notes and have a "cramp" in your throat, bad things will happen (I don`t know how to call it in English - your voice "breaks" and a very high pitched sound comes out). Open your mouth and relax your throat.

I think you should make another version where you use your real voice.
I didn`t say much, but read Angel`s post. Believe me, I know a little about this stuff as well ;). I learned how to use my real voice through yoga (and breathing) - we did it for like two months and it really helped. It`s amazing what proper training can do to your voice.

Re: Can I sing?

theres only one problem with your voice, you arnt confident enough. You dont believe you have talent when you obviously do, try to speak up a bit aswell.

Oh definitely - practice breathing techniques, tongue twisters and singing up and down scales/arpeggios (sp?) to improve your range too and become more comfortable with your own sound and style. And when you sing out loud at volume, push from the diaphragm, not from your throat as Rotid said - you could squeak and also do yourself some serious damage (i.e. polyps on the vocal chords).

You got any more stuff we can listen to other than what's already on your Myspace page? I like it :D

Re: Can I sing?

Ya, as my old music teacher always said: "You must sing with your whole body - from toes to hair."
If you sing your throat must be in the same state as if you were yawning.
So, waiting for something new:lol:
