Capcom's COO Mark Beaumont, Dies of Heart Attack

Mark Beaumont, Capcom’s COO of North America and Europe, has tragically passed away. The popular industry figure suffered a heart attack in the early hours of February 23rd. He was promoted to the role of COO at Capcom in April 2008 having served as both senior vice president and executive vice president.

Beaumont was a well known figure in the international games industry, dedicating over a quarter of a century to the sector. Prior to his stint at Capcom, which started in 2005, Beaumont served as executive VP of publishing at Midway.

Capcom posted the following statement shortly after his death:

"Our COO and dear friend, Mark Beaumont, passed away this morning. This sudden loss has left us with deep sadness. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones. We will remember him for his humor, passion and commitment to Capcom and our industry. He was a great leader and visionary and his spirit will carry on in everything that we do. Please join us in memory of Mark."

He dedicated a lot of his life to the gaming industry so my respect goes out to his family and friends in this sad time.

Truly, this guy has been in the business longer than I've been alive (and I was born in '83). Sucks to hear this, he was one of the better guys in the industry who cared about his work. RIP Mr. Beaumont.
