Chun-Li

Wanted some critique on the last signature I made some months ago (most of you probably remember it from one of the previous Sig Battles, which it lost in).

CHUN-LI.png

Some of the flaws are beginning to now show up to me, but I want to know what the rest of you think and how it could be improved. I'm thinking of possibly reopening my Signature Request Shop as well, but I'm not sure.

Re: Chun-Li

I love it as seph said i cant see any flaws but i dont like the sparkly (dotty) bit on the left hand side.

Re: Chun-Li

How did it lose? o_O technically seen it's one of the best made sigs I have seen her..

I love the retro thing you used, It's creative and the dotty things go perfect with what you wanted to make.

Only the white part on the right could have been changed..

Re: Chun-Li

Great sig and only criticism is the dots on the left hand side that go over the render though probably intentional they dont totally look intentional and same effect around the stars makes them seem lower quality than they are.

Re: Chun-Li

I love it but would prefer it if the colours were slightly richer. And I think your GFX shop NEEDS reopening.

Re: Chun-Li

I've circled the areas I thought looked bad, specifically the lower circle which highlights the sharp edge of the right-most Chun Li's neck.

Re: Chun-Li

I like it, the white space being the only exception. The effect on the stars DOES make them look not as new, but I see them as more antiqued or something along those lines than anything. :frenchy:Not sure if I like the mouth in that one star, looks off... :( My only other complaint is the lettering... I cannot read it, but since that is a common Japanese thing to do it's acceptable to me. :P

All in all: Clean up the right side, maybe put a faded image of something in there or at least something to fill the space. I personally don't like the mouth in the star, and the writing could be enlarged very slightly.

Hope my critiquing helps ^_^

Re: Chun-Li

@Sephi & Azer: I'm surprised many people dislike the empty white space. It was actually intentional to have some negative space to balance out all of what's on the left, plus I liked the concept that was used in some commercials that had typography in them.

But I will experiment with the empty space and see what I get. I'll report back later with an improved version of it.

Alright, I'll reopen it soon when I get some things out of the way.

Thanks, I'm not sure how it lost exactly.. but it did. :P

I agree, the top flaw was one of the ones that bugged me because of how harsh it looks. The bottom flaw I'm recognizing now as well and I think I have a good idea for how to fix it. ^_^ Thanks man.

When I was making it, my biggest eye sore was definitely the multiple stars, they just didn't look right and were hurting my eyes.. but I was running on a deadline so there wasn't much for me to do about it at that time, but I can fix that this time.

Believe it or not, the text is just randomness although relevant. It's just the names of her techniques, and other words/titles describing Street Fighter. I think I can make them a little more clearer to read though.

Yeah, the more and more I look at those splattered dots the more I dislike them. They were actually intentional.

Re: Chun-Li

I like. It's the sort of style I wish I could pull off but normally end up failing on. Now, had it been a Cammy sig, then you'd have gotten top marks. :P

Re: Chun-Li

Ah is that what they are? It's fine, it just bothers me I can't read them even if it looks good.

The only thing botherting me is the mouth inside of the right star.... just looks out of place.

During the early stages of it, it was originally going to be a Cammy signature since I had a really sexy picture of her just waiting to be used. Well, there's always next time.

It's nearly as hawt as you Gikoku-pooh. I love it.

Great work.

Thank you, currently re-working on it and will have the improved version uploaded eventually.

Noted. It does look rather out of place, the problem I often I have when making signatures is that things look so right while I'm in the moment of making them, but when I come back to the signature after a good while, it hits me.. "What was I thinking when doing that??"

Re: Chun-Li

Beautiful and talented, is there nothing you can't do?

Re: Chun-Li

i rather like the negative space on the right. and the text is a nice effect.

giki i agree with what people said about the noise on the left side, the effect is there, but some of the stray pixels surrounding it could be mopped.

other than that it looks good!
