Re: City of Heroes (CoH)

I never brought it but thought it was a really interesting concept of online game and one i would have brought if it didnt have monthly fees.

I flat out refuse to pay ANY games online fees ever, no matter how good the game is.

For me it differs, but games like WoW are out of the question - I refuse to pay for the game in the store, then keep on paying to be able to play it.

Games that are free to download and have a (reasonable) monthly fee I reck'n I could pay, depending on the game.

I know they have to pay for servers to keep running and such but once you have brought a game i dont expect to be paying for it again every month to play it. I mean Guild Wars was a really good online game and that was a best seller without online fees which shows it can be done, and its more stable and less glitchy than WoW.

Re: City of Heroes (CoH)

I agree - I think Blizzard went a bit overboard on that one. The game did cost as much as a normal singlle player game! AND the monthly fee to that...meh. Atleast they've shouldn't have charged as much as for a single player game...

We used to have an account, but we lost it. :'( We're getting one again soon though.

Thats exactly the way i feel about it... and some of the best MMORPGs are Flyff Silkroad Online Knight online and a few others and they are free to play and download plus they have an item shop

Edit: and guild wars!

Re: City of Heroes (CoH)

I don't want to pay monthly fees either. I'll try Guild Wars one of these days.

Re: City of Heroes (CoH)

you all make it sound like 14 dollars a month is going to bankrupt you
i spend more money then that on booze in a week i think you should all take the choke hold off your wallets LOL i never played heroes but villians played a lot. I had a power level 19 corruptor it is very fun and worth the monthly fee
i would have to say D&D online is a good one to but i do hate wow with all of my soul mostly becuase of they put sratcraft on the back burner
i want to see jimmy kill kerrigan

Non a bad argument if you're and avid gamer and
That's $168 a year or three to six games plus the cost of the initial game. This is on top of other games that I might want to get. Even for the avid gamer the game would have to be four to seven as good as other games. I'm more of a casual gamer than I'd really like to be. This means it usually takes me longer to finish a game this making pay for time worse than, buy a game and play it on my own time.

Basically it works for some but not all

Re: City of Heroes (CoH)

Alot of gamers (myself included...though I'll be turning this year, yay) are under the age of 18 and thusly lack any real source of heavy income and then it really is alot of money to spend.

Re: City of Heroes (CoH)

I'm apparently barely older than Tsuyu. Huzzah!

...I'm not sure why that's important, because it isn't. I'm just in a weird mood.

Anywho, I wanted to play City of Heroes/Villains really, really badly; It's a wonderful concept. However, there are some issues:

For one, I have comparatively very little money that I can spend each week...I may be 18, but that doesn't mean I'm yet able to move out from under my parents :-P Then there's the fact that I have other games that I want to play. Then there's my friends, none of who have the game and I like to know the people I'm playing with before I do so. And so on and so forth.
