Community Spotlight v. 10: Darg

Can it be? Is it true? Is it Wednesday night again? Why yes, yes it is... somewhere anyway... but who cares? Clocks and calendars are for chumps and people who meet deadlines, and I think it's clear to us all that I am neither. Even more abundantly clear is that we are now in the midst of this week's projectego Community Spotlight!

After a thorough hunt of the twisted depths of our community, I came upon a Nightfox... (he's not really a fox... he's just crazy)..., one of our very own Bard's, Darg. After ensuring that the torture restraints were carefully fitted, I proceeded with my interrogation...

Hexadecimal: Alright Darg, the first thing I need to know is, what is it with you and foxes and nightfoxes and general fox related things? Is there some significance to them? Or is this just another attempt by the world to confound me?

Darg: A conspiracy to confuse Hex on the site? Perhaps, but it's always been a fascination of mine. Foxes are known to be agile, graceful with a slyness and guile unmatched, and it is at times my symbol, but as for the nightfox part, it's just that I like the dark, simply put. Trust me, contrary to popular belief, I'm not evil...

Hexadecimal: But evil is so much fun
And I knew there was a conspiracy... All against me...

So, what made you want to join our delectable community?

Darg: I imagine you're probably waiting for me to say 'for the singing sword or sandgoose' or some other run-of-the-mill answer, but no: it actually all started with a random Google search and a desperate thirst for Fable 2 information, and I never regret coming here. I recall the very first thread I viewed, the 'I am a Bard' thread by the newly-returned Arckon. I could have never guessed that I'd be contributing to the very same thread a week later...

Hexadecimal: Oh the quest for Fable 2 info, snagged another one, did we?

What sort of Fable 2 news were you hoping to find then? What exactly are you looking forward to most in Fable 2?

And since you mentioned Fable 2 news... or was that me?... What do you like most about being one of our projectego newsies?

Darg: Oh Fable, how I love it, every bit of it. Sure, Oblivion and other games have their good points and great features, but when you play Fable, you're experiencing what no other rpg can provide, and that is why I look forward to seeing the new styles of architecture and just how they handle it in general. I also look forward to the awesome Fable humor that kept the game fun for me.
As for your second query, I think it's at times hilarious when random people ask you 'whoah! how'd you get that bard title?' It's interesting coming up with new ways to astound people, as much as that doesn't happen a whole lot.

Hexadecimal: Well, since you brought it up, how did you get that Bard title?

Darg: You know, writing stories and random assorted poems on the site, but that's what I do. I currently have two stories going, one in the Fan Fiction section that no one seems to read and another more recent one in the Barrow Fields section. I also asked Steve if I could have a chance at it, because I like contributing to the forums as much as possible, even if I don't post news as often as I should.

Hexadecimal: You offered to contribute your services to Steve-o and he didn't have you spread eagled in a vat of pudding somewhere? If I were you, I'd be more than a little insulted... you don't even want to know what I had to do to get this job...

What makes you want to write then? What is your major source of inspiration?

Darg: Many sources of inspiration continually enter my mind, as well as events in real life that make me think... For the most part, I'd say it's other peoples' writing and creations, because after all, that's how alot of them got to be where they are today... which could also mean dead. And on another note, I feel pity on you for whatever in Steve's name that he made you do...

Hexadecimal: I wish I knew what my inspirations were...

What is your favourite memory from Fable? And from life in general?... It's ok if they're the same memory... just very, very sad.

Darg: Ah, life. It has served me well, as has Fable. Fable provided the good and the bad, the annoying and the brilliant. Especially getting involved in the game as in real life, though not even my fair Fable can replace what life is truly about. I'd say that my most memorable real life moment is actually of when I went on a high school trip to the Denver art museum and galleries in the area and truly discovered some of the best art I've ever seen. Many may not know this, but I am not only an artist with words, but a visual artist with a lust for art of all kinds.

Hexadecimal: Lust of all kinds, eh? Yeah, I can relate to that...

So, do you plan on doing something to do with art in your future career then?

Darg: Certainly I plan to, though I'm not so sure how that'll play out. Somehow, I plan to tie in my writing as well. but as for art, it's one of those things that's either a blessing or a curse... Just look at Van Gogh. He couldn't sale a single one of his paintings before going insane and cutting off one ear before dying poor. I only hope history doesn't repeat itself on me!

Hexadecimal: Well the most creative among us are often the ones who are mad... and art has never been a terribly lucrative field except for the very lucky... If you're worried about dying a lonely earless madman without a penny to your name, then art likely isn't the field for you...

If you could have anything you wished for, what would that wish be?

And, most importantly, what do you like most about me?

Darg: As for the first question, I'd have to say that I'd like some way to make a difference in this WORLD before I'm gone, because hey, you only live life once and that's way too short of a time for you to wait around for something good to come by. You have to grab life by the horns and kick the crap out of it to show who you really are and what you can do.
As for the second question, good question... Can I really think of anything that I actually like about you... Hehe, just kidding. In actuality, I would say you are one of the most unique brilliant people on the entire site, what with your awe-inspiring poetry and of course this, the most innovative way to torture people since dial-up internet (like I have). Kudos to you.

Hexadecimal: Why thank you, Darg
your *** kissing is much appreciated and shall be remembered when I make my bid for total domination

Well, I think I've got everything I need here, unless you had something you desperately needed to share with my readers. An addiction to chapstick? Do you ever fold yourself up like a paper airplane and just float around for no reason? You can tell us anything.

Darg: I'd have to say the last one pretty much summarizes my mind, though I have a quote to share with my fair people of the forums, a Nightfox original in fact: "Live your life because it's the only one you'll get." Hey, it's true. Thanks for the interview, Hex and I look forward to seeing this torture-session on the forums. Farewell... for now that is.

Well, there you are... Darg.... Musey. Newsie. Floosy?

Thanks go to Darg for taking the time to undergo the pains of my inquisition and I invite everyone to return again next week to see me curse up an asterisked storm in the next Community Spotlight.
