Community Spotlight v.2 : fablefreak1

It’s that time again! That's right, loyal reader, it's time for our second installment of the projectego.net Community Spotlight.

This week I scouted my way through our beloved Fable 2 fansite and what did I find, but a Fable freak… but not just any Fable freak… The Fablefreak1.

Oh, sure. There are a number of Fable fans around here, this is a Fable site after all, but this one is the best and most important one. Why? Because he’s the one I’m interviewing this week… That’s why…

fablefreak1 is one projectego.net's oldest members and one of the site’s beloved Bards. He’s made quite an impact around here, so I decided we should all get to know him a little better and have a quick taste of his gooey insides...

Hexadecimal: Ok, first question... Probably pretty obvious, but why fablefreak1? Were you uninspired that day, or is there some secret meaning you'd like to pretend it has? We're dying to know...

FableFreak: It may surprise you, but I was once a noob. Well maybe not a noob but I've never been the most original person. But its too late to request a name change now, just because of the fact that I'm known too well on here. The "1" was just a stupid mistake. I had assumed there was already a Fablefreak, so I put a one at the end to make sure I got the name I wanted. Little did I know that there was only five other members when I had joined. The thing is no one ever puts the
"1" when they same my name on the forums, so maybe I could get Steve to change that...

Hexadecimal: Waiting on Steve, eh? Yeah... good luck with that...
Just you and 5 other members, huh? So, what made you want to join our fledgling forum when you did? What was it like here in the very beginning? And what's made you stay with us for so long?

FableFreak: Well originally I joined the forums because I was looking for some stuff about Fable Myths, you know Sandgoose, Singing Sword, and whatnot. But looking at all the other things just made me want to join. I really liked how it looked and I knew that Fable 2 was only a rumor, but that is probably the main reason I stayed. I just wanted a place I could come and discuss, in my opinion, the best RPG ever, and a place to come and find news and updates about Fable 2 when it really got going.
Well, in the beginning there was very little, and then Steve said "Let there be members" and he saw it, and it was good. Well not really, in the beginning there was very little, but it was some really good stuff. One member, The Bard, made a really cool thread about the Singing Sword and posted a pic of a sword someone made that was claimed to be the Singing Sword. There was also a guy named Seigfreid who made a thread called "The Arena" where someone would make a riddle about a place in Fable, and if you guessed correctly you were crowned "King of The Arena".
The reason I have stayed for so long is because this forum has really grown and thrived. I just liked coming here more and more, and I do actually visit the website everyday, it’s like my online nest.

Hexadecimal: Sounds like good times...Online nest... I like that...

Well, as we've both seen, our glorious site has continued to grow again recently, gaining it's group of lovable Fable newsies in it's new Bard user group... Tell us, who's bed did you have to climb into to gain that little favour? Were you surprised by it? Has your ego inflated beyond all measure?

FableFreak: Well I don't want to say anything that might make Angel mad at Steve, seeing as they just got married and all... But I can tell you that he offered me the position because he thought I had a good writing talent. I was somewhat surprised, but he had offered me a position on one of his upcoming websites and made me an editor on here just to get used to what my job is. My ego... Hmm... Well, it has enflated a little. I'm no longer a well known member. I've ascended to being a well known STAFF member. I've always wanted to be a part of the staff, ever since I first joined and now I am, so I'm pretty happy about that.

Hexadecimal: You seem to have developed a nice little niche here for yourself as the resident projectego.net cynic. How did that happen? And is the way people see you on the forums at all the way you are in reality? Or is it all just a horrible facade?

FableFreak: Honestly, I don't like to discuss how I became the resident scornful, negative person I am now. It came about in a way that I regret, and I'd like to forget it. Thats about as much as you'll get out of me... In reality I'm not as mean as I can be on here. Although I'm not optimistic at all, and if you met me in real life you could make a lot of connections. But everything I ***** and moan about on here are my actual views on things.

Hexadecimal: Nice to know that you're brutally honest with us. I respect that.
I've noticed that you seem to get a little agitated when people get into heated speculation about Fable 2, and paying a lot of attention to rumours... you have also been quoted as saying that our colons will explode upon Fable 2's release... so, my questions are, what makes you so passionate about Fable, and what are you most drawn to with Fable 2 (by what we know to be confirmed so far, anyway)?

FableFreak: Well I'm so passionate about Fable just because it is my favorite game, and it’s such a good game to. I just hate seeing it being thrown around with all these stupid rumors like the Sandgoose and the Singing Sword. Its like when someone in a school tells a rumor about someone else and they all ask that person about it even though its a lie. I wouldn't want people to buy Fable just to go searching to try and find all of these stupid things. I'd want them to buy Fable for the awesome gameplay and experience.
As for Fable 2 I want it because it the sequel to Fable, the greatest RPG ever. I want to see the improvements that are being made on it and I want to see the Havok Engine do its magic (I loved how it worked in Half-Life 2). Just remember Hex, when your colon explodes because of Fable 2's kick assery don't hesitate to go to the doctor...

Hexadecimal: Hehe... Thanks for that Fablefreak, I'll be sure to take that under advisement...

Well, we know you love Fable, projectego.net, and Steve, but what else brings a tear to your eye socket? What other interests or hobbies does Fablefreak have that may surprise and baffle us all? Or, conversely, bore us all to sleep?

FableFreak: Well, I haven't cried for as long as I can remember, so that question is now pointless... But as for hobbies and interests there are quite a few things. I love chemistry, but not for scientific purposes, oh no. I make all kinds of wonderful (and flammable) things. For example as I type this I have gunpowder being made in a ball mill in my garage, and among other things I make my own fireworks, I can start a fire with water, I can create an explosive oil fire out of a tea candle, all of these things are daily practices for me. It runs in my blood, my uncle actually worked on the propulsion module that is used by NASA and he would show me all of these amazing chemicals and what not. I like to cook, my Dad owns his own catering business and he uses me in the kitchen whenever he needs help at his shop. Hunting is probably my biggest passion. I'm within 10 feet of 11 different caliber guns right now, and I simply love them. I do a lot of varmint hunting, also upland game birds like quail and pheasant. Wild Boar hunts are a thrill to go on, probably my favorite thing to hunt. So, those are pretty much the three main hobbies that I like to do, and they take up a majority of my time. ... No reason for that...

Hexadecimal: Wow, interesting. Not a fan of the hunting myself, for obvious reasons, but I do enjoy explosions and have been known to like a gun or two... insert innuendo here...

Well, beyond all that, is there anything else you would like for my faithful readers to know before we wrap this up? Your secret identity perhaps? A twisted fetish? What you love most about me? Last chance...

FableFreak: Well, I suppose thats it. This was nice Hex, maybe we should get together sometime, talk about explosions, guns, maybe have a steak with a side of chopped veal and liver...

Hexadecimal: Oh fine then... no professions of undying love then I see... this time...
Well, thank you very much, Fablefreak, for taking the time to chat with me this week. It's been very... enlightening...

FableFreak: Anytime Hexadecimal, anytime...

And, there you have it. fablefreak1 has been unmasked and he's... well... exactly what he seemed to be... Outstanding.

I hope you've all enjoyed this up close and personal look at another of our treasured members here at projectego.net, and remember to tune in next week to see who's next on the chopping block!
