Crackdown Beater Revealed?

A new game known only as Prototype right now is being developed by Radical and is touted as a freeroam explosion-fest beat em genre game which doesn't sound bad .

It is VERY similar to the formula in Crackdown as its based around a genetically engineered hoody called Alex Mercer. You have abilities such as slashing bad guys in half and climbing up the side of skyscrapers and also things like super-human strength, the ability to cover himself in scale-like shields and the ability to send matter through the ground, impaling baddies on giant spikes and he can also shape shift into the identity of his victims.

Apparently set for release around Winter 2008 (so quite a way yet), lets just hope its even better than Crackdown and more of the same winning formula but with expanded Story etc.

Re: Crackdown Beater Revealed?

I love Crackdown, so that sounds very promising!

Though not being able to create your own character sorta puts me off, atleast in Crackdown you could pick from many, Goth Agent for teh win, though I rarely see a goth with sideburns and mohawk...

Yeah i think Crackdown has a winning formula, shame the story was like none existent but it was a lot of fun to play definitely. Im glad to see other developers realising the potential of this genre and lack of games in it and im interested to see what games come to light.
