Marking the beginning of what will no doubt be a week-long trend of "this game will be in 3D" announcements, Crytek has revealed that you'll be able to play both single and multiplayer Crysis 2 games in 3D.

Speaking to USA Today's Mike Snider, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli said "the success of 3D movies like Avatar and the introduction of 3D TVs from the hardware manufacturers tells us that this is the next big movement in entertainment, much like HD was years ago." He went on to to explain that even the game's multiplayer modes on all three platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, and PC) will be playable in 3D. "For games especially, 3-D gives gamers an increased level of immersion, which can enhance an intense experience like Crysis 2," Yerli said.

Electronic Arts will be revealing more details about Crysis 2 and more than two dozen other titles at its press conference today at 1PM PST (4PM EST).

So long as companies dont start releasing the same game 6 months later with only difference being its in 3D i think this is a good idea.

I do agree though, 3D is becoming annoying. Gives me a headache.

I've only played 5 or so minutes of Crysis so I don't think this is a game to keep watching.

Or the next big failure, many people still haven't transitioned to HDTVs and they think 3DTV will be a success?

I remember playing a demo of Arkham Asylum in 3D, it was pretty good but the glasses are kinda tight on the head and I can imagine my eyes hurting a bit from long play sessions.
