DA: O Help

I'm at a decision where I must chose to either side with the templars or the mages. What's weird is for the Beast of the Forest quest (I think it was that) I came up with a compromise where

I negociated enough so thaat the elf and the Lady of the Forest sacrificed themselves and the wherewolves became human again.

I wasn't taking sides there but accordingly to the game I sided with the elves. Now I'm afraid I'm going to spoil it somehow because I want to come up with a compromise like a did earlier but also side with the templars because I want them to fight alongside me. What should I do?

I am at a point at the top of the circle tower where I find a templar emprisonned and going crazy. He wants me to kill everyone upstairs and I'm afraid that if I say no I'll be siding with the mages.

That's impossible. If you want a compromise, then you need to side with the mages. You will not have the templars in the last fight though.

If you want the templars then you need to side with the templars, and kill all mages.

^I worked it out so that I could get the templars in the final battle, have the mages sent for interrogation, not killed, and I got to keep Wynne (or whatever her name is)- she's the best mage you can get. So it all worked out. Thanks anyways.

By "interrogation" im pretty sure they end up killing the leader of the mages, and I think they make any other surviving mages tranquil.
