Damn Drivers..

One of my greater annoyances: People who are lousy on the road and can't park correctly.

I came out of the grocery store today only to find someone had apparently parked their vehicle blindfolded next to mine; this person's parking was absolutely ridiculous. I'm on the right side of the car and this person's car is to the left. The front end is facing diagonally left and the rear end is in the opposite direction. The car was around 7 inches away from mine so I couldn't get in, I had to go in through the passenger side to get my car out of there.

To top it all off this person's vehicle is a Scion.

Other occurrences would be when people don't look both ways when pulling out of a driveway. People who stop in the middle of the road to say something to someone who's on the sidewalk, why can't they pull over to the side of the road and do that? Driving on the highway and you're attempting to get around someone, but they remain in front of you while on the cellphone. Then there's the coup de grâce... the elderly and their damn Buicks. An elderly woman (that can barely see above the dashboard) blazing at 5mph in a 30mph speed zone while lane drifting, what is going on here??

Anyone else here who has had these misfortunes?

I honestly, honestly thought this was going to be a rant about computer drivers. I clicked on this thread in the hopes that you'd be laying into how crappy printer manufacturers are at updating their software drivers or how nVidia screwed up big time with their recent driver release which caused GPUs to overheat and fail. How wrong I was. :(

What's a car?

Re: Damn Drivers..

I hold the opinion that everyone behind the wheel of a car is a moron. It's the safest way to view them, in my book. Women drivers especially seem to be the worst - the rearview mirror is not there for you to touch up your makeup, dear, and driving in impossibly high heels can and will impair your clutch control. And why the hell do they have HUGE vehicles?? The worst offenders are women drivers in cities like London where you're better off using public transport. The place is crammed with women in SUV's crawling along at 3mph, looking for a place to park badly so they can totter off to "do lunch" and have a facial or whatever the silly bints do with their time all day.

Old people who drive like we're all still in rural 1930's Britain - because who needs to look at the road when you're driving? They simply need their licences revoked - either that or have them culled. Red lights, intersections, indicating, speed restrictions - all of these things don't exist when you're over 65 and driving the inevitably over-powerful car.

ANYONE who uses a mobile phone when driving annoys me - I'm sure arranging your next coffee morning/expensive lunch which will be counted as expenses however fraudulently/gossiping about some crappy soap on TV last night is SUPER important but truth is, if you're yabbering on the phone, you're not paying attention to ANYONE else.

People who drive right up to the rear bumper - it's dangerous, intimidating and makes you look like a prick. So stop it.

Two cars stopping in the middle of the road to roll down their windows and have a chat. Really? I mean, REALLY?

People who don't indicate and then give me the v's for crossing the road thinking they weren't turning. Oh, I'm sorry. Perhaps you should give me your pretty orange lights to strap to myself so that at least one of us is obeying the Highway Code.

Knobheads....and yes, I don't drive. Probably because I'd fit into every single one of the above categories at some point :D

Re: Damn Drivers..

Yes Sharon, exactly. Just the other day I saw a poor schmuck struggling to park his car properly. He went at it for a good 5 minutes and couldn't get it straight until he eventually overran and hit the handicap sign. One can safely assume his handicap is in the head.

:( Nope, I'm sorry Steve, but I feel your pain on that matter. A car on the other hand is a tool that gives idiots super powers such as the ability to travel inhumanly fast, tear down walls, and turn pedestrians into a pile of lasagna.

Re: Damn Drivers..

Bad stuff never happens to me when I drive, but as a passenger I've had a couple of incidences. We were leaving a carpark, and we stopped to let some inane middle aged (not even elderly - just stupid), leave her car park. We left plenty of room, and she got her car out fine, then paused. Then she continued backing out, and into us. It was the stupidest thing I think I've ever seen.

Re: Damn Drivers..

If only we still rode horses. That day will come again.

Sometimes when I walk to the depaneur with some friends during/after school, there's this intersection where apparently if you enter within 10ft of it, you are incapable of signaling because it is disabled now. "Maybe if you signaled I would've walked faster moron!!!".
