I saw this game while I was on my couch, reading a featured article from GI. This game looks amazing, with fantastic superhero artwork that has the look of a great game that's worth the gameplay hours.

Introducing Darksiders...an action/adventure game where you play the role of War, one of the fabled four horsemen. With the ability to ride your steed Ruin whenever you want to(without the lously realism of control like in Twilight Princess), rip off guns from broken helicopters, use massive combos on enemies, explore ruins, and even more. This is the apocalypse, brought by a devestating nuclear war, or an alien invasion.

I think this game is wicked. Being able to play as this anti-hero and battleing epic monsters on an post-apocaliptic wasteland is awesome.

From IGN

"One of the more interesting surprises to come out of THQ's E3 presentation was the announcement of a new gothic action game with a comic book twist called Darksiders: Wrath of War. You play as 'War' - one of the four horses of the biblical Apocalypse, who gets caught up in an epic tale of good and evil.

Taking visual cues from comic book series like Hellboy, Sandman and many others, the art direction in Darksiders is the most initially striking element in the game. We were shown a face-off against a towering, lumpy crab monstrosity that War hacked and slashed away at until it took off and War is forced to give chase. The action system is very dynamic - definitely taking some inspiration from games like God of War and Devil May Cry. There are even moments where War begins to scale the beast to bring it down, Shadow of the Colossus-style.

Darksiders is, by the developers' own admission, an action adventure that has major sandbox elements (which seems to be the new lens flare, eh?). The game is structured in such a way that some areas of the central city can only be accessed after unlocking new items and abilities that you earn along the way. There's the promise of a good amount of non-linearity in the level design, however.

The game carefully balances religious iconography with hardcore technology - apparently the angels in Darksiders are particularly technologically advanced, and this should come into play in some of the sections of the cities in the game.

Being one of the four horsemen, War naturally has an equine companion. Though his steed wasn't witnessed in the preview, we were informed that his trusty mount is every bit as gothic and hardcore as War himself is - taking to its back and plowing into the enemy is set to be as satisfying as the combo-heavy swordplay that we've seen.

Famine and Pestilence have been renamed Fury and Strife. Death looks kick-*** in the article, he has a large black crow on his shoulder andhis gautlets and stringed with bones, he also sports a bone-ingraved robe with a punisher-logo face. But honestly, War's the bad-*** horseman...can't wait to ride on Rruin and stab some demons.

Re: Darksiders

awesomeness mucho like his weapon is kind of like athena blades of god of war with the trail.

Re: Darksiders

....Soooo...*why* are Pestilence and Famine named Fury and Strife? Hardly the same thing, isn't it? :-P

I suppose they'd be alot more easy to put into a character.

Pestilence.. I guess you could go with some slimey guy creating plagues or whatever, but a "berserking" Fury might fit the bill a bit better.

Famine... meh, what? Some anorexic dude...?

Re: Darksiders

A famine is a social and economic crisis that is commonly accompanied by widespread malnutrition, starvation, epidemic and increased mortality.
-Wikipedia

So..I guess Famine is the horseman of economic crisis.

Pestilence is the horseman of plague, the figure of a pandemic. Now that's a horsman I would spice up a conversation with ;)

I can't be certain which horseman is a female...but I saw the unkown character in the magazine...and Tsuyu...you might just get this game for her.

Here's War on Ruin...it's not 3d, but I always dig to find the concept art
