Death Note on Film4

Anyone watching death note?

If you are, then let's talk while we watch!

If not, turn channels to film 4, channel 444 for virgin users.

Post :D

L looks a lot like he does in the anime, and the animation for Ryuk is very good.

EDIT: Death Note: The Last Name (Part 2) will be aired on the same channel, next saturday at 11:25pm

Re: Death Note on Film4

Alternatively, you could find them on torrents, and download them. Out of curiosity, was it aired with English subtitles, or dubs? AFAIK, Deathnote: The Last Name has no english dub, so will that be aired with just english subs?

Either way, the live action movies are absolutely atrocious. As are the english dubs. For the movie, or for the anime.

The anime itself, with the original Japanese voice actors, is great though. Favorite anime of all time. Well, not hard, I've never been able to find another I could stand past the first few episodes

Re: Death Note on Film4

They're both in english subs. It was following the story to a T then went on a complete side track. How lame :(

Ended at the same point, so I guess it's okay.

This one was quite good and accurate.

Raye's fiancé, who commits suicide in the anime, kidnaps Light's girlfriend and there's a bit of a showdown in an art gallery where Raye's fiancé shoots and kills Light's girlfriend, then shoots herself as the police arrive. Both deaths recorded in the death note. Completely different from the anime, but as I said, it finishes at the same point.

Urahara's rating: 4* worth a watch. I'm looking forward to part 2.

Watched it and got a couple of my family watching it, they are now death note addicts Lol.
I just loved ryuk oooh the cgi was AMAZING aah how i adore ryuk "apple?"

Re: Death Note on Film4

Look at my comic, it's epic!

p.s Cant wait for next week's Death Note :P

Re: Death Note on Film4

I've seen both seasons and the live action movies! Totally different to the Anime. I'm waiting patiently for the L movie. The CGI for the Shinigami(Plural) is awesome. the guy who plays Light is in another one of my favourite Japanese movies. Battle Royale, you should see it!!! 'It's totally killer dude!'

Another movie adapted from anime is Initial D. It's good, but strangley it was made in Hong Kong, not Japan, and it's in Cantonese, but the scenery is spot on, almost exactly like the Anime

Re: Death Note on Film4

i only just finished watching the anime and i think it was freaking awesome.

one think i didnt really get was

after light temporarily gives up the deathnote and they are going in to bust the other kira (with the helicopter chase and the sniper) both light and his father refuse to take a gun. yeah, its the law in japan that civilians cant carry guns and they are technicly civilians, but in that kind of situation, who cares? seemed kinda pointless to me. i guess its their respect for the law, but still.

im i the only one who prefers the english dubs? i dont really care about the voices, i guess im just lazy and dont wanna read. id rather watch the scene and listen to words i can understand, not watch words and only partly watch the scene while listening to [what is for me] giberish.

Its best not to treat them as canon, they sucked... The plot is changed a bit, but it begins roughly at about episode 2 or 3, then differs from the anime at about 10 or 11
Whatever episode they start videotaping Raito

Re: Death Note on Film4

Hm, this time death note completely veered off of the course of the anime. It was quite a disappointment, as it left out the whole section about N. Although, the way they shot it was very good too, but a bit unexpected. I'd recommend it to any anime fans who are open to remakes.

I give it: 3.5*

Big changes from the anime:
L doesn't die, instead he fakes it and Light confesses to his dad before he 'dies', which doesn't happen because the Death Note is a fake. The whole tier of who the Death Note gets passed around to is completely different too. In the end, L wrote his own name in the Death Note so that when Light writes it, it wont work because "The deed had already been done." L dies quietly on a sofa with a picture of Watari and a chocolate bar by his side. It's a pretty sad ending, although it is COMPLETELY different. I recommend watching the anime first, and know what really happens before watching, but it is worth the watch.
