Deathly Hallows: Part 2

Do not want. The book was bad enough but the films are absolutely ruddy awful. Not a single one has been any good whatsoever in any capacity and they ought to be put on a fire and burned.

Not that I'm at all vehemently opposed to them or anything...

I'd rather re-watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy any day.

J.R.R. Tolkien> J.K. Rowling.

Harry Potter is ok, but I don't think I'm gonna bother with this one. I've not even watched part one (don't really want to tbh.)

Harry Potter's alright. I never read the books, but I see the movies when they come out on DVD. They're not theater worthy though. I rarely see movies in the theaters anyway, so when I do, I make sure it's something I really want to see.

I thoroughly enjoy that this movie only covers the last 1/3 of the book...so 260 some pages as opposed to part 1 which covered ~500 pages. So...it should be half the length, right? ;)

That being said, I'm obviously not a fan of the movies. Or books. Tolkien ftw.

J.K. Rowling bit off a lot of things from other authors, legends, etc. Not saying other authors haven't, but they at least attempted to make theirs unique.

My favorite Authors are Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.

Personally, I don't like Tolkiens writing style, but the story was good, except in his Lost Tales series.

I watched the trailer with my friend and the squeal that came from her mouth totally cramped my style.

=/ you're all disappointing me. it's only the children's book series people are going to think of when it comes to the 1990's and 2000's. i grew up with it, it has family traditions, and you all are shattering my child/young adulthood. 50 points from projectego :(

and angel, i just pictured you as ned flanders without a mustache/with boobs :P

I liked the books (apart from the last one which disappointed me in the ending) - it's the films I take issue with ;)

Also, NED???

it's a particular scene that's only in spanish on youtube unfortunately. the general gist of it is that he dislikes harry potter.

i think his line goes
"and harry potter and his friends all burned in hell for an eternity for practicing witchcraft"

Based on The Hobbit, I can agree with this. I was actually quite a bit dissapointed when I read it.

I once read Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea books (the ones from which Rowling supposedly took ideas from) and I must say these were a big, big let-down. I only finished one and got halfway into the other when I just gave up.

So as far as writing style goes, Rowling is pretty good.

About the movie - yes, will probably see it.

I'll probably watch it when my sister gets it on DVD. She's a massive Harry Potter nerd, you see.

It had Emma Thompson in it, of course I'll watch.

Srs: I will see it, but only because I need to for the pop culture factor; my favourite was The Prisoner of Azkaban, after that they just went downhill in my opinion.

Emma Thompson never did it for me really, Liv Tyler as Arwen on the other hand... One more reason I prefered Lord of the Rings. It didn't help that she reminded me of a girl I knew too.

As for the went "downhill after Azkaban" bit, I agree it did. I don't know where the magic went, but it sure went a-flying after that movie. :ermm:

I think they just made it too serious... they're trying to make it Earth shatteringly epic, whereas it actually achieves that better if they just bloody relaxed a bit.

And Liv Tyler > Emma Thompson???? Really??

The movies after Prisoner of Azkaban sucked because Emma Watson stopped being jailbait :troll:

I've still got another two years...
