Disturbing Experience 49872, Reaver's Bedtime Story

I feel the need to share, for no particular reason. I recently started getting audiobooks, so I'd have something to listen to on my drive to school.

As I grabbed things off my library's shelf, essentially at random, one of the things I got was Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I was halfway through the second CD before I went "holy ****, I know that voice." Reaver was reading me a story. It was such an alarming experience.

was it the same voice actor or was it someone who had a very similar voice to Reaver?

and that is awesome, I would so study if Reaver was reading my textbooks out loud.

Lol, that's cool, one time at the library I found an Audio book of James Earl Jones reading poetry from several poets, including Edgar Allen Poe's "Raven" omg... That was the most epic tape (Old skool) I ever heard...

Same guy, I think. Stephen Fry?

Darn... It sounds like it will be so epic... I have heard the raven one from when he did it for the Treehouse of Horror Simpsons episode... Was awesome.

I was looking to add a fifth to the list, but Stephen Fry doesn't do it for me.

Don LaFontaine? (RIP)

Clicky, Stephen Fry, it's him. I knew he did audiobooks, specifically the Harry Potter series, my younger friends wouldn't let me go on without knowing that.

I have this thing about voices, I like them. Jeremy Irons, James Earl Jones, Morgan Freeman, Anthony Hopkins, all people I would love to have follow me around and do all of my dialogue for me. I was looking to add a fifth to the list, but Stephen Fry doesn't do it for me.

Edit: Bumped. Oops. :(

Eh, a bit of necromancing, but I want to talk about it, so:

Yeah, what I've noticed since I started getting the audiobooks is that a lot of the people who do them kinda suck at it. I'd say that Stephen Fry did better than some, at least.

Sorry, but I gotta ask about the Harry Potter ones. My family has a few of them and I actually remember, no idea why, that they're read by a guy named Jim Dale. Does more than one company have the rights to make audiobooks for Harry Potter? No, I don't know why I'm asking you instead of looking it up.

And yes, I actually recognize some of those names and I can say that I probably agree.

Jeremy Irons... I know the answer is "Google it and find out!" but is he the guy from Starship Troopers, Total Recall and COmmand and Conquer 3? If so I love his acting.

Ironside! Of course lol, and Ironside was in C&C 3.

I know Jeremy Irons too, Man in the iron mask, Die Hard with Aveangence, Eragon, Lion King. The Time MAchien was an amazing movie.

Different versions for different countries. Clicky. Neither version is sold around here, only available to special order. It so happens that the UK version is available in a few music stores in Mexico, just across the border not far from here.

GASP! Smuggling foreign audiobooks across our borders? You BASTARD.

Also, yeah, I would say the guy who read the US Harry Potter was better than Stephen Fry reading Hitchhiker's Guide.

It's Steven Fry! How could you not know who Steven Fry is?!?!? Oh yeah... you're American. No offence. Just saying.
