DLC question

DLC question

I checked around but i couldn't find an answer but i thought in order to go to knothole island you had to be completed of the main story line is that true? Because i just started a new game and the mission was on my list so here i am in knothole island fighting shadow people with an rust long sword and if got to say its kinda hard so does anybody know?

Its that you can't complete KI till you have progressed further in the game, the first mission you can do the moment you enter Bowerstone Market... and yes it is kinda hard, try running through most of the game with nothing but that rusty sword and it really is a challenge.

My daughters have played from the start over and over and over and over and over again, and the first thing they do once they get to bowerstne is jump in that submarine.
BTW, i have tried playing for as long as possible, with a rusty cutlass and flintlock pistol. i got as far as wescliff before i threw in the towel and upgraded my weps for the Crucible. didn't die once, which i'm proud off, but it takes ages to kill the spire guards when u get to brightwood tower
