So, after all of these goodies and pre-release items, do you personally like the approach where they are letting you get stuff before the game comes out? Between pub games, fable 2.com, and kicking chicken, you can more or less start out with

A gun, a sword, armor, a wedding ring, potions (meaning starting at a higher power level), a dog with back flips, as much money as you can scrounge up from pub games/ kickin chicken, a free title "Lord of the Bee yards", a doll, more expressions, chicken suit, dye, a bunch of tattoos, and MORE

So, i ask you. do you like starting out with all these goodies, or would you rather they just hand you the game (not lionhead personally of course) and say, hey, your an orphan in the game, no cash, items, or powers. go play.

I love the idea personally. most complain about it because people cheated in the pub games, but that wont affect me. because im going to play alone or with my friends/cousins

I think it is revolutionary!
Its a fantastic way to hype up the game before hand and boost sales, not to mention that its a nice way to get settled into the game before hand...and it means you can further more increase replay value by playing without these bonuse's and see how it goes -- maybe you will be more inclined towards the Darker paths of you have no money :D

Giving away free stoofs is always a good strategy for anything.

^ absolutely right if i was giving away 100 dollar bills to people who bought my game for 90 dollars (one per-customer) then of course you would want to buy my game!!!

yup, well worth the money i spent on the game if ive spent everyday since the pre order, earning gold and items towards my real game. love it

Re: Do you like Lionheads pre release approach? (pubgames, Fable2.com, etc)

The Title is "Lord of Yard Birds"
I don't think that you can earn the gold more than once.

Anything to prolong the experience or give you a taster of some of the games themes before release is excellent marketing choice. More companies should be doing it and giving the fans something to play around with while we wait.

Took the words right outta' my mouth! :P

But yeah, I think Lionhead Studios have done a great job marketing Fable 2 and building up the anticipated for the game. I love that little bits and pieces were released to help us pass the time while we waited for the full game to come out. I'd say that besides Halo 3, Fable 2 is probably Microsoft's most backed-up and supported game so far. I'm surprised we haven't seen TV adverts yet (well, we haven't in the UK yet)! :P

I don't think anyone else has done a pre game release such as this before. For that reason I never complained about the pub games. First of all it was free, yet very smooth and playable regardless of how infuriating some of it was. Second of all it allowed me to lay down a pre cursor to what my character's financial situation will be when he/she starts her adventure. eg: my evil character is going to start out in a bit of debt. =)
