Dog Species???

Theres probably already a million posts on If there is Dog Species.. im a "noob" to the forum so its hard for me to find them..

So just asking.. Can you pick a Species of Dog???

e.g. Bulldog, German Shephard ...

I wish you could pick breeds but I don't think you can.
I think the breed sorta changes depending on your alignment. Like if you are good it turns golden Labrador-ish and if you are evil it turns rottweiler/bulldog-ish. That seems a bit stupid to me though. What if someone wants a evil gold lab? or vise-versa?

It will change with your other alignments, such as cruelty and kindness, purity and corruption, so who's to say that you cant be fully evil and pure, and have a lab? Or something...

^True. But it didn't sound like that from all the interviews. It sounded more clear cut good and evil. Maybe they changed the dog part since then? Hopefully.

I have noticed that the dog does look different in different screenshots. There's one with what I think is a female hero, and the dog kind of looks like a golden retriever, all one color. In others, the dogs is colored more like a german shepherd. I doubt you can pick a breed, but that would be really cool if you could.

The thing I wondered more is what gender the dog is. Personally I think it should be the same as the gender of the hero

Or opposite. Apparantly a dog will get on better with the owner if its a different sex.

In this vid. PM mentions that the dog can be sheep dog like, or doberman like among other types.

This was pretty early on but unless they simplified I think that the dog can be one of several species.

Maybe it is ramdomly generated which would be a great idea in my opinion as it would involve unconditional love ! and it would mean more viariation in dogs!

amn all this talk about Fable 2 has got me hyped up.. Assassin creed seems boring to me now I NEED FABLE 2!!!

But yeah the dog thing.. i hope its random generator.. that'd be a good idea and the whole alignment is a good idea aswell.. thanks!

Early on in the game, the player will encounter a pet dog that will stay with him or her for the rest of the game. Every dog will be unique in some way and will change appearance depending on a variety of factors, including the player's alignment.
( PM at GDC07)

This is the only quote I can find about the dog and it's appearance, hope it helps!

no. your dog will grow and evolve with you. depending on the way you play they game, your dog will morph into different breeds.
