What did you guys think? I think they ruined Dragon Age.

It was terrible... Just terrible. The only thing I liked was the Mass Effect conversation system. Other than that it's just button mashing, button mashing, button mashing.

It was terrible. I think I'll just get it for the story.

I'd give it a 4/10 for gameplay, 6/10 for graphics, 9/10 for story, and 7/10 for other stuff (like menus and buttons, copied from ME2).

Does gwumpy need a hug? Did that mean Dragon Age II make you cwy? :/

We must have played two different demos. The one I played was awesome. Heck knows what you were button mashing into a pulp like a silver back gorilla.

Really? I was cummiung buckets the entire time I was playing.

I'm quite sure both events are related.

I played as a warrior, because I like tanking.

I had to button mash A all the time. And darkspawn, who took like 3 hits in DA:O 1, died after fifty hits in DA2.

Played it the other night (PC version) and I enjoyed it quite well, a lot better than Origins. I don't have an opinion on the story since it was just a demo, but the graphics looked good to me (clearly an improvement over its predecessor). I'm not that used to keyboard & mouse controls however as I'm more of a gamepad user, so gameplay for me was a bit awkward at first, but once I got the hang of it I was definitely having a good time.

Not once did I come across any need for a mindless mashing of buttons, a feature exclusive to the console version I assume (plus I was playing as a mage). Looks like BioWare took more from Mass Effect than just the conversation wheel, even the pause menu is the same. Overall, I like what BioWare has done with DAII and I'm definitely going to be purchasing the game when it releases.

This demo was the first experience I've had with the Dragons Age franchise, and exactly like Amon, it was alright. It wasn't bad, but as others have said, the combat was pretty stale. I found myself not even watching what was going on but randomly hitting A and watching the lower right corner until my other attacks had recharged. I may at some point this year pick up the first game cheaply and play that to see if I like it, but to be honest I wasn't that impressed with even Mass Effect, so it might be another franchise I skip out on.

I really found the button mashing annoying: playing as a two handed warrior it seemed that I could attack too fast and just spam abilities and I was invincible.
Along with the attack speed, I found alot of a animations were too fast: so when I jumped on the ogre, the animation was so fast it was unbelievable.
The conversations were pretty good but I would prefer it without the para-phrasing...

I enjoyed the demo, preferred playing as a 2hand warrior or a mage. I think the mage was funner to play but the warrior had better "fatalities" at least as far as I know, they didn't let you get into the darker side of the mage, just that one cut scene with the ogre.

I think I have to agree with you there. DA:O had a more, i don't know, 'Classic' feel to it, that they've already killed completely in Dragon Age 2.
