Dragon Age

well... I searched around here and could not find a thread on Dragon Age, and as I had been reading about it earlier today, I decided to make my own...
if there is already a thread on this... well... too bad... now there's two...:P

Title: Dragon Age
Developer: Bioware
Platform: PC
Genre: RPG

Dragon Age has been described as an "epic fantasy", and will utilze the Bioware Eclipse Engine. Set in the kingdom of Ferelden, it promises a deep level of storyline (and I would expect nothing less from Bioware), along with all the usual bells and whistles they always provide in the form of romance, influence, and a more fully customizable character, including a slew of races and classes.
As in previous Bioware RPG titles, moral choices will once again have a profound impact on storyline, as well as on your companions. The influence system is improved over that of the KotOR titles in that should a companion dislike your methods or attitude they may with hold their support entirely, something which would have greatly added to the realism of the aforementioned games.
The look of the game is very similar to their other titles, as well as the camera in regular gameplay, however in combat it will switch to a view above the character to see the full battle (as seen in one of the screenshots I provided because I'm great). Combat itself will be more realistic as it will not rely merely on "politely waiting your turn-based combat", but will also be effected by number of and proximity to enemies rather than simply rolls of the unholy unseen dice with no change in the effect if you swing your sword 2 inches away or 10 feet away from your opponent... man, I used to hate that...
I believe the release date is set for some time late this year.

here's some screenies for your viewing pleasure...

Re: Dragon Age

I remember you mentioning this on MSN ^_^ +rep for the thread. Looks similar to the Baldurs Gate series in ways...

Re: Dragon Age

Those look like some very sexy screenshots; I'll definitely keep my eye on this one.

Re: Dragon Age

Bioware are always a company to look out for when they are creating new games ^_^

Re: Dragon Age

This game just looks better and better the more I read about it...

BioWare are looking to add a third layer of communication to what is said and how it's said; how characters look when they speak...We'll begin to understand motivations instinctively; rather than digesting dialogue and calculating our next move, we'll feel what is the right way to proceed. BioWare's plan is nothing less than a reinvention of the genre, of the way we play.
that, if they can pull it off, and being the gods of Bioware I have no doubt that they can, would add a huge new element to interacting... will be interesting to see how it turns out...

Re: Dragon Age

I hadn't even heard of this game...

However, I have quickly concluded that I very sincerely want it's babies.

* tries to buy the rights to a sequal* Ha!

Re: Dragon Age

CVG just put out their preview of Bioware's Dragon Age. They describe the one of your companions, a War Golem by the name of Shale, and how interactions with him can progress, as well as the Bioware staff being thrown out of carparks for tweaking with combat Canadian style... often and everywhere. :ninja:

CVG said:
"My name is BioWare! And these are my giant, fantastic and gobsmacking role-play balls!", before placing them in a pint glass for public viewing.
CVG said:
Dragon Age is pure BioWare: distilled, refined, stored in a barrel in a Scottish cellar and then sold somewhere posh like Waitrose. It's the future of role-playing and it's the new messiah.

Now here are some delicious screenshots from 1up to feast your eyes upon.

Well, Baldur's Gate was like "Pong" for RPGs - the pioneer of the genre. Or "Doom" if you wish - of course you are dissapointed by it after having played games like Half-life II, Doom 4 and Gears of War - but you wouldn't have them be it not for "Doom".
