Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi Battles

First thing to note is the graphics look superb for the style it is, the auras and energy blasts look spot on. I like the counter window you get, if that can apply to pretty much any technique it could make for some interesting battles. So long as the counters are varied and not just the attack from behind counter & i also liked that you have a choice in how you will counter some techniques. I hated it when you were stuck in one long combo with barely a chance to get out of it and it merely looked like one long cutscene that the CPU spammed in previous games. The battles also seem a decent length instead of over in a couple of minutes and nice damage over the course of the battle.

That was great.

The environments and character models are quite gorgeous, I must say. The boss battle videos turned me off a bit, but after watching these videos I'm a little bit excited for this game. Really enjoyed that Super Vegeta fight, though I wonder what's up with Cell's voice... anyhoo, looking like a definite purchase for me.

I find it amusing that the Frieza vs. Goku battle on the dying Namek actually took 5 minutes in this video, unlike in the anime.

I was wondering about Cells voice too. If the battle lasted as long as it did in the anime you would end up with repetitive strain injury.

I will definitely be getting too, but I'll wait for X-mas, the only game I'll be getting myself before the holidays come is Gears3, can't afford all the jazzy games I want this year. Sadface.

Certain parts of the combat don't seem quite as nice as in the Raging Blast series, but I'll just see when I get the game.

And I didn't notice anything different about Cell's voice. It's always sort of weird like that when he's in his semi-perfect form.

I liked some of the dodges in the Vegeta fight too between them both, shame you didnt see either of them end up going through a mountain in the scenery or someone actually pull off that special counter (the defence reaction part).

Yeah, I was also surprised Vegeta's final flash attack didn't leave a crater or some ruined land. I was expecting a bit more destruction to the environment.

It sounds much noticeably different than in the original DBZ and even Kai. It's more deeper, brawny and forced, I know they replaced the original voice actor for Cell in the beginning of Kai and for Raging Blast 2, but then they brought the original guy back for Kai. The guy in the posted video doesn't sound anything like the original to me.

Yeah it should have left a huge crater, also a shame that doing a special resets the enemies position. Much like doing a special in the Smackdown series 'used to' teleport the opponent into the middle of the ring the special attacks seem to reset the enemy back to their feet. They should remain in the ground if you have hit them there and make them more vulnerable to attack. The damage seems to disappear too, wasnt sure if its because the auras and energy blasts seem to blow away the debris or it actually just disappears.

I was confused about that too as i knew they replaced the original and then brought him back but yeah sounds different in the video.

Well, I guess I do notice a difference now that you mention it. His voice in Ultimate Tenkaichi just sounds a lot like his voice in Raging Blast 2, and that's the one I'm used to right now.

Im still curious as to how the single player story mode will play out and what sort of style its going to be in this year as this has varied from game to game quite a lot.

Judging from the character creation trailers, I'm guessing it'll be like Shin Budokai: Another Road where you can fly around a world map going from story to story. Mixing in those animated cutscenes and realtime chatter between combatants during fights like they did for the Raging Blast games.

They should include little side quests etc too so it mixes things up from battle after battle and award xp or unlockable techniques or something.

I think that might actually be what's happening, at least with Hero Mode. We know that you'll be picking existing DBZ characters to train your custom characters, so I'm wondering if those training sessions show up in the middle of regular battles, and I'm also wondering if your custom characters will learn things like super attacks, signature skills, and different combos depending on which DBZ characters you choose for your training.

I was curious as to how they would implement the training aspect too and if power levels play a big part.
