DragonBall Z Movie -- Update

An update on the Live-Action DragonBall Z movie to be released 2008-2009

Mexican newspaper El Norte reports that 20th Century Fox will film 85% of the DragonBall Z movie in Durango, Mexico under the direction of James Wong.

The production, expected to film in 2008, plans to use the Mexiquillo Forest, Marley Ranch, Hacienda la Providencia, La Joya Ranch, Laguna Seca de Santiaguillo and a forum from a Convention Center in the Culture Institute.

"Durango meets the needs in hotels, personnel, services like transportation, equipment, stunts, restaurants. This movie will provide the city with 750 jobs and an important flow of money," said Susana Elósegui Cross (Turism & Cinematography Director of Durango).

The sets will be constructed this month and shooting will begin in January and last through March. However, the movie cannot filmed completely in Durango, so they will move to Estado De México for some shots at Nevado de Toluca (an important volcano).

Durango was chosen by Ariel Shaw, the special FX director.

DragonBall Z is about a young boy called Goku. He faces Evil Vegeta, who tries to destroy the hero to prove that Goku is not the legendary warrior many believe he is.

What do you guys think of this movie?

Re: DragonBall Z Movie -- Update

I dunno... There was already a live action film of DBZ done a very long time ago in China, and it was terrible.. none of the characters looked like anybody from the show. It was basically a kung-fu movie, with the Dragonball name, and funny looking costumes.

I'm not really sure about this one.

Re: DragonBall Z Movie -- Update

It might be ok... I have seen some of James Wong's work... and I'm somewhat impressed... but like you said, we'll just have to see.

Re: DragonBall Z Movie -- Update

I really dont want them to make a Live Action movie, it would be awful. Nothing can do the actual show justice unless its animated and it would make DBZ look like a mockery and give even more people who hate it reason to mock it. Nothing good could come from a Live Action movie.

Re: DragonBall Z Movie -- Update

You see, I disagree. I think that it can be done right. It is possible to make a good LA movie with this. Transformers worked well (In my opinion) and I think this one might to. But I will definatly follow this all the way, and pray it is great.

By the way, I meant to ask... what would you guys think if this was a Spielberg movie? You think then it would be definatly good?
