Dreadful Life: A novel by Triz

~ Re-do ~

Act 1- " Before they were gold, we were sliver " --Trane, a video game character.

Chapeter 1

As I walk out into the ghetto streets of New York, I feel an unwantedness coming off the ground. Something told me that I need to stay inside. That is when I should gone back inside my almost life-less house. But, I was egar to go some tagging and some basketball done. All of New York was in my hands.

I grew up poor. I didn't know my dad. Just that he didn't love me. All he cared about was his drugs. My mom is hardly ever home. She is red- headed and hates everything that is good. I wished I could got away from her.

My name is Kyle Ross. My life sucked. All I did is spray paint stuff and played basketball.

The two people that had my back since I was 5 were Demetrick and James. I can count on them. But...

... That day, I fled something bad was going to happen. I walked to a nearby basketball court. There was a huge wall being built. My name coming from it. It was dawn. It could have been hard to seen me. I was wearing all black. Black shoes, black socks, black shirt, black pants, black hair, black eyes. Near that wall I was a thug looking figure.

I quickly ran to the wall and started to tag my name. When I got a good look, I can tell that person was a thug. He looked at me evilly. He was a huge black man. He spoke, " Hey kid, what the **** are you doing?? This isn't your turf. Get outta here! "

But just I was about to go I spoke," I'm not in a gang. I just spray for fun. "

" For fun? No way, it's too crazy. You wanna work for me and my gang? "

At that point in my life time, my answer is yes. But if I only knew what had been a head. My other friend, Amanda, was starting to become a little hooker. I thought I loved her. Soooo much pain. The thought of joining a gang would have been a lot. It could help get over her.

Just then, someone behind me said, " I think he passes. Get lost! " When I turned, it was Demetrick.

This doesn't seem like a novel... A novel is 100 or more pages, anything less is a novella, and less than that is a short story.

Well, that was just chapter 1. I was going to post like a chapter a day. Yes, Chapter 1 is short though.

Unfortunately, I think your English has gotten worse since your last story. >.<

Re: Dreadful Life: A novel by Triz

Why not take another look at your writing style? The use of punctuation is a little excessive and you need a little more structure but if you take your time and add some more description you can make your first chapter stand out more.

If you can't make it longer perhaps consider making it a prologue perhaps?

Yeah, the English is pretty bad. Not so bad you can't understand it, but it makes it harder to read.

And yeah, I think you needs to add more description.

Just my two cents =]
