Dvd Burning Software

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you know good software for making DvDs that are playable on Standard Dvd players.

I have been using Womble to create the video ts and Nero To burn.

Womble however is quite limited for making menus and setting chapters. I need something that will let me set the exact length I want in my chapters. As well as design a menu. I also need the program to be able to convert avi and mpeg to video ts.

I basically need this to burn home movies. Also I have been working on downloading a few of the movies my Girlfriend's 4 year old brother has tornup.

The kid thinks they are frisbees and never puts them back in the cases. So I had to down load Racing Stripes , Ice Age 2 and Cars for him because he loves those movies but, he doesnt take care of them that well.

Re: Dvd Burning Software

I believe you are breaking one of the rules but I'm not sure if this falls under the category of "media piracy".

Hello, Steve? Does this fall into that category?

I don't see why it should. Tanro's only looking for software to burn home movies onto DVD and that certainly isn't a breach of the rules.

Wish I could suggest something or contribute something helpful, Tanro. Sadly my video-editing, video-exporting knowledge doesn't amount to much. Sorry!

We own original disks that no longer play due to being scratched up or damaged in someother way. I got most of the parts of racing stripes the go stepped on. I dont believe in piracy, but I am a strong supporter of fair use.

Fair use - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I do believe back up or achival copies are legal under United States Fair use. I also dont see how it is not fair use If I have to somehow recover data that is unrecoverable from the original media.

I can either download the movies from a torrent site, or I can copy them from a DvD I rent or borrow. But, as long as I have an original copy that was sold in the store I thinks its still legal.

Anyone feel free to correct me If I am wrong.

Yep, that's right :D

I have been looking for a good DVD burning program, too, so I can't help you much :(

Re: Dvd Burning Software

My dad used to run a pirate company - oh how proud I am  - and he used Nero for the burning like you do but I forget what software he used...let me do some digging and find out. The software itself is legal (if you don't do what my dad does and buy it on the black market in Russia) and I think you can download it from somewhere if a shop near you doesn't offer it...I'll try to find out ^_^

EDIT: It was Adobe Encore, I believe...you can download a free trial from their website and see if it suits your needs. But I doubt it will be cheap to buy from them directly - perhaps check somewhere like Ebay for a legit but cheaper copy.
