EA continuing work on new Mirrors Edge

After revealing 5 months ago that development had been halted on Mirrors Edge 2 it seems that work is continuing once again. EA senior vice president Patrick Soderlund has confirmed today that the company are hard at work on a new Mirror's Edge project but he wouldnt reveal any other details. During an interview with Gamestar he said the following...​

I loved Mirror's Edge and what we did with Mirror's Edge, We have not abandoned the franchise. And we are working on something, but I'm not willing to talk more about that.​

So not much different than the last time they mentioned it, however more interesting development was the talk that they could use Battlefield 3's impressive Frostbite 2.0 engine for it.​

Mirror's Edge was an interesting concept, but ultimately it failed to deliver in the end. If they were to give the player more freedom and make it more sandbox/free-roam it will be awesome.

I agree totally, the idea they had was really good and in theory it looked like it could be superb. However when it was finally released it fell short of those expectations and remained an interesting concept that was flawed. If they can fix some of the issues people had with the first and think of ways around ideas that totally didnt work then it could be great.
