Effects of gold manufacturing?

Hey all,

As you've all probably realized a great way to make gold is by buying property and collecting rent. A few times, i've simply left my xbox on while i'm doing homework so that i can still accumulate gold. My question is this: If you use this method of collecting gold when you are king (leaving your character idle so that you can continually collect rent) does this count against the days you have until the 'darkness' comes? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me on this subject

No, it doesn't. The story doesn't progress until you complete the next story mission/objective. You have all the time in the world to save up gold.
