Epic working on Gears of War conversion?

It was originally said that IF a PC version of the Epic Xbox 360 title Gears Of War was ever produced that it might take years to come out and convert. However new rumours are floating around that, that might not be the case at all and it might have very soon.

Back in February Epic's Mark Rein had said that he wanted a constant steam of downloadable content for the game but added there will be a 'fun' little surprise in the next update also but wouldnt go into further details. When questioned about a possible PC version he had said

Mark Rein said:
A PC version is 'Inevitable' but technology is a key hurdle to overcome. The big challenge is to make a game that was designed solely for the console... to take advantage of every last little corner of that console, to fill every little crack and run as many threads as we could and do as much to exploit the power of that machine, and make it run well on enough PCs to be worth releasing. That's a challenge. "UT will help us there, because Unreal Tournament 3 will be kind of our vanguard PC product, and it's helping us get optimisation on the PC. So it's just a matter of, now, can we make Gears run on enough PCs that it's worth selling...or do we have to wait in five years until everyone has a PC that can run it?

"It's inevitable, but it's just not there today."

However on a recent article on The Inquirer.net he is quoted to have said...

Epic is planning and working on the conversion.

In fact the shooter will come to PC soon.

The Inquirer

How soon is 'soon' we dont know

Gears of War on the PC? Not entirely sure if that'd work out. You'd need to have a scary expensive PC as well as the latest video cards and whatever. It's hard enough trying to run Oblivion, but having Gears on the PC? Seriously, I think games that don't come with extreme graphics are in short supply for us gamers who can't exactly afford a PC over three-thousand dollars.

It was always rumoured but yeah you would need quite a beast of a PC to run it, but to play the best looking games you got to own the best hardware you can.

Yeah, very true these days. With next-gen games comes the need for next-gen hardware which costs an arm and a leg. Still, I think it could be successful. The possibility of downloadable content could be especially interesting if it was implemented in the PC version. Modding madness all over again...

Yeah cant expect all this next gen GFX, and Physics to not need some expensive next gen hardware to run it well. PC Downloadable content would be a damn good idea like the plug ins etc for Oblivion.

Along with the release of it on the PC, maybe Epic would implement some extra content already on the disc for the PC release only. I thought I heard somewhere that there was already some system you could use to mod Gears a bit, but that could be just some random rumor. I don't know about it, but I think the PC version could bring some good stuff to the table as far as gaming goes.

Yeah i think the PC Version would do the reverse of Half Life 2, Half Life 2 was on PC and went to 360 with Episodes 1 & 2 with it in a package. Im sure any downloadable content for Gears Of War on 360 that comes out before PC version would be put onto the disc already for PC owners to make up for the wait.

I imagine the PC Version could have 3 player co-op online aswel (Rainbow Six Vegas has online team co-op) and Xbox 360 has 2 player co-op but sometimes there are 3 in your squad maybe 4 so could be a possibility.
