I was just trying out some things and I ended up with something I actually like.

Did you used brushes only to make this picture... I tried, but I couldn´t do such thing.
So, since I can`t do it, it`s very good.

I used brushes and various Adjustment layers to achieve the color. I also used a pattern to create a smaller effect.

OK, so it is possible to do it with brushes. I guess I`ll have to try again then.

Looks cool Amanda, but you might want to use the burn tool on some of the lighter spots, and put a light source in

What I do is go to Filter > Render > Cloud and then brush over that. Sometimes I do a bunch of different layers of brushing and change the layer mode on them all. There's a lot of different ways to get cool effects. Just play around with it.

Is it possible to save my Photoshop file so it keeps all the layers and stuff?
Next time I open, I can see and change my layers...
