Fable 2 Limited Edition woes
Good day forum people. I would just like to thank Lionhead Studios for making great games. I am not too happy with Microsoft right now on how they handled my missing DLC code. In total it took 2 weeks of waiting, and will take another 2 weeks to get my code. Here is the tale thus far:
I bought the game on the assumption that it would be a fun co-op game that all the trailers were alluding to.
I searched locally for a copy of the collectors edition, since I usually like the stuff that they come with. I found one on Amazon, and proceeded to buy it. They are fast at Amazon, great company.
When I opened up my case, it was devoid a DLC card. Naturally I searched on the internet to see if there was a problem, and found a couple of solutions. One led to a site with a simple box to enter your gamer tag, and you would magically get a code to remedy the problem. Kind of tactless, but I decided to throw my name in the box to find out I missed it by 2 weeks. Of course I was thrilled. I tried the second option, and was put on hold for 15 min before I got a real person. They said that they would take the matter to a supervisor, and gave me a reference number.
I got a call the next day at 10am, but didn't get home till 6pm, since I work 12 hours a day, so I called Microsoft and told them when they could call me, preferably in the evenings at 7pm. The next day, I got a call from MS at 3:25pm. Argh. I called MS again, only to be put on hold for 30min. I told them to call me in the evenings and weekends, preferable on a Sunday at 2pm.
Sunday came, and while I was out doing errands, I got a call from MS at 10am, telling me to call for a fax number. I got home at 12:45, called MS, and got put on hold for 10 min. No biggie, I told the rep my problem, sited the ref number(in the past calls, they ask for this and all your details at least 2-3 times per call, since you get juggled to at least 2-3 different people) And rattled off my details again. This time I cited my dismay that directions couldn't be followed. I was immediately put on hold again, this time for 30 min. When the guy got back, he apologized and asked me if I faxed in my receipt of purchase. I told him that's why I was calling! And he promptly put me on hold for another 15 min. When he got back, I naturally expressed my anger, and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was put on hold again, this time for 5 min. When the guy got back, he forwarded me to the supervisor. I told the supervisor of the whole situation, and that I was ****ed off at MS support, and just wanted an e-mail address and a fax number so this wouldn't get screwed up further than it was already. He said he could only give me a fax #, fair enough I said, what is it. He said that he had to put me on hold again. AAAARRRRRRRGHHHHH! When he got back, another 10 min had passed. He apologized for the wait, and I asked patiently for the fax #, he said I had to wait another 5 min. FFS I thought, and waited in silence, which was broken by me saying that I wouldn't buy another collectors edition from MS, and this is probably why more people are buying Wii's, since Nintendo knows how to take care of their customers. After 5 min of waiting, he finally gave me the fax number. I said thanks, and that this would probably be another 2 week wait, and he agreed gleefully, like I was grateful for that response. He ended the conversation with a bull**** line of "Hey, check out x-box live's web page for any gaming news". I thought "Screw that!" and hung up.
Moral of the story - MS first party collectors editions suck because they outsource the packaging to 3rd world countries, and they package them on Fridays. Buyer beware.
