Fable: A Masterpiece?
The people at this forum seem to REALLY love Fable, and I agree that it's a great game, and The Lost Chapters is even better. But the site itself dubs the game a "Masterpiece", and I that's just wrong.
Previous to getting this game, which I was led to believe was "the most open ended game in history, with tons of choices and consequences for each choice", I was spending a lot of time replaying Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, so Fable seemed really static choice-wise. I would say that Fable has about a dozen or so big choices, and they really don't effect much other than offhanded comments you get from villagers. At the Arena, for example, you either kill Whisper or you don't. Either way, you never see or hear from her again (true, TLC does explain what happened to her if you don't kill her, but it's still not a big consequence).
KotOR gives you a much bigger game, action/reaction wise, so that claim is always kind of bunk in my opinion.
Fable also got a lot of hype over the good/evil aspect. But, again, KotOR already did it, and they did it better (because they made it more than just people liking or being afraid of you).
Don't get me wrong, though. I love the game. But a masterpiece?
