Fable Crashing.

My Fable has gotten where it crashes ever five godamned minutes. Its not from mods I have done a clean install and not modded at all and it made it worse.

I tryed updating my graphics drivers and sound drivers after that and no luck.

Re: Fable Crashing.

dang hmm well i really don't no how to help you just here to support you i would have to say top reasons would be graphics card witch you tryed to fix a corrupt file (can be fixed by reinstalling or maybe there is an out side file that the game is trying to recognize but cant so it shuts down. have you tryed playing fable on a different save.

Re: Fable Crashing.

Sorry for double posts.

But now it seems to crash every time I go to the guild.

Re: Fable Crashing.

hey at least you can play. mine wont even start, which is why ive resorted to another game. anywhoo, have you tried threats? return or exchange? or...change all your settings back to default?(i have to admit i dont know how to do that)

never mind i just found the run function in the search bar

Re: Fable Crashing.

I was looking for serious advice. My system specs are much higher than needed.

This is really getting old. Now it freezes whenever I go to any load screen.

And my xbox version now freezes too. Not as bad though. DAMN IT ALL!

Re: Fable Crashing.

i was being serious....maybe you should go to geek squad and find out what the problem is

Re: Fable Crashing.

Tried running the Dxdiag tests to see if that shows up anything?

Correct and then run the Direct3d and Directdraw tests.

Re: Fable Crashing.

how do you do that on vista because i dont have a "run" program

Re: Fable Crashing.

Lmao you need the vista update, Or maybe get rid of vista as it is total CRAP.

Have you looked at this?

Edit:
oh I did run DXDIAG thats where I got my system specs from. Also. I did all the tests in it and nothing was wrong.

JSYK I am a Computer Information Systems Specialist. The Army does teach us these things. But thanks for the idea the average person would have never thought of it.

And I have managed to fix fable. It involved a registry cleaner a clean install turning my graphics hardware acceleration back to max, and a Work around in Free roam App.

Re: Fable Crashing.

Hey there - I had multiple crashes, particularly at save points, but not exclusively. Sometimes it would simply exit out to windows at random. I also experienced the black screen with music playing, and the loss of text for no good reason. I nearly chucked the game to the curb (VERY frustrating!)..but found somethings that worked. Two things were recommended;

1) Lowering all of the graphics settings was highly recommended. I have no idea why, in that I have a newer card, more than capable of handling a slightly older game like this - but I did it anyway. A noticable difference in quality, but nothing horrific. You'd have to experiment with just how high you can get away with - I currently have all of my settings at there lowest out of desperation.

2) I heard rumors that it might not run with stability on a duo core processor. Again, no clue why. But start the game, alt+tab to jump out of it, ctrl+alt+del to get at 'fable.exe', then right click it, access 'affinity', and uncheck one of the processors (apparently doesn't matter which) - alt+tab back into the game.

I followed these two suggestions, and am now completely free of any crash. I've multiple hours and multiple saves into now, with complete success. Hope something here helps out. **** will drive you bats.

Re: Fable Crashing.

I had exactly the same problem with mine, it played no problem for me in xp 32 bit but in vista 64 bit crashed and wouldnt work.. after looking up all sorts of help for the problem it was my soundblaster audio card.

i have had an audigy 1, audigy 2 and soundblaster live 24 bit.. and always ALWAYS had many problems... its not that the card is defective... just the drivers they write for them that are complete garbage.

my suggestion is to just yank em out and use onboard sound if you can.... solved my issue with fable
