Fable dumbed down?

I loved Fable TLC. I loved the atmosphere, the music, the graphics, the combat, customization, everything. With Fable 2 it didn't feel quite the same. The music was alright, the atmosphere was alright, but it didn't feel like Fable. It was just alright, where Fable TLC was amazing.

Re: Fable dumbed down?

I believe thats because Fable 2 moved into a newer epoch, where it is far from Folklore and the wild forests of Albion, where you feel like in a medieval fable. I see that Fable 2 focuses more on a different epoch of adventuring, where you can either be a pirate or something like a cowboy and it makes the game pretty nice. Of course, for people who love more medieval times, with armors and such, they will enjoy Fable TLC.

I believe that Fable 3 will remind us something like the first World War, just by looking at the screenshots and the way that Bowerstone has changed in just 50 years. Though I don't expect to see any plate armor.

Fable 2 is a very good game, though it is a bit far from how Albion was in the first Fable. But as time goes on also Albion has to change and the adventures of the hero do so too. I really like in Fable 2, that you go into caves, tombs that there still are forests with the ruins of the past, it makes you feel more as an explorer too.

And.. I LOVE guns, I like to shoot people on the head, regardless what they are: travelers, bandits, vendors, wifes, husbands and Hobbes.

Re: Fable dumbed down?

You have to understand that it is a completely different game. Fable 2 completely redefined what Fable is. Like you, I played TLC long before Fable 2 was released, but it still feels like Fable to me because I've realized that Fable isn't just TLC anymore. It's much more expansive. You need to rethink what Fable really is.

Also consider this: Those that have played TLC after Fable 2 have said that TLC doesn't feel like Fable.

That definitely won't be the case. Fable 2 seemed to me like it took place in a time that would be a little while after the American Revolution, and Fable 3 is only 50 years later.

:(... I didn't say I didn't like Fable 2, I just don't think it's immersive as much as TLC.

I don't really care what time it's in, but while playing Fable 2 it felt... it felt kind of predictable, and very scripted/cliched.

I didn't think so. But then again, the story isn't what I pay attention to the most anymore when I play Fable 2. I play it for its amazing replayability, and I focus on being a specific person, using specific weapons, wearing specific clothes, etc.

COMPLETELY AGREE. I see the same thing with Bioshock 2 - it's still a fine game, but it's lost the magic of the original. The atmosphere of Fable TLC was unparalled, whereas Fable 2 doesn't have the same immersion and awesomeness.

Ima get some chocolate milk.

I REALLY hope they don't do modern fable..but then again half of me does XD

Malynoux said there thinking of Fable 4 and 5 so if in Fable 3 Peter says it will feel like a revalution/Industrial time whatever century thats in then time is going to move forward so maybe the idea of Fable 4 would be around the 16th or 17th century but dosen't really mean that Fable 5 will go modern with AK47's and weapons of other sorts

Re: Fable dumbed down?

I think the first Fable has better atmosphere than TLC. The extra quests sucked ass IMO
