Fable II Online Co-op

I have been seeing quite a few complaints about the Fable 2 online co-op, and seeing as almost all of the forum members (I hope) have Fable 2, I was just going to ask you about your opinion on it. So this is not really a Yeah or Nay thing, I hope you will put some time into your responses and explain your point of view on this, and post problems with it, or just explain to everyone why you think it is crap/awesome. So... lets go.

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

Ok i like the system but imo the only thing it is good for is char boosting with your freind (gogin through the crucible) or goign on mad killing sprees, though there are the odd occasions where you can help others and what not, i have nothign against it i think its great but for some reason i cannot connect to my freind and when i do i lag so badly i mean we went to wraithmarsh and i was in the sky flying and he like "why the hell are you casting blades all the time" but other then that its awesome and people who put it down for minor flaws just dont deserve the game :D

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

I can see it now, "Hey, what the hell is with the blades... Hey!!! Cut it out!!! Stop! You're going to hur......."

 But, yes you think it is good? Cool. And with that problem your having, try restarting your router by unplugging/plugging it in, or do a full reset to factory settings. Mine seemed to connect to my friend after that, and any lag during my games were gone.

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

nah its just him i lag with, ive done co-op with loads of other people, but when ever i join him it lags, but its pretty funny im gonna join when he's in oakfeild and hopefuly kill his wife with lag, *thigers crossed*

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

i like it but the things that bother me are that you cant adjust the camera angle and you have to stay really close together (unlike co-op on saints row 2 where you can run around seperately)

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

I love coop, and being able to talk to my friends. I have spent as much time in coop as I have in my own game. The only thing that seems to bother my friends, is how tall my lady hero gets, compared to the henchman. They hate to come up to my chest.:)
It would be nice to have our own, but I am having to much fun, to complain.^_^
So I picked the first one. +rep4U

Where is the "I can't connect to any on my friends list so I have no idea what it is like" option.

You have to set that up in your menu.:)

Whenever I join it just does the loading screen for whatever area they are in, then says "Connection to CO-OP game failed".

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

Maybe your friends set their options to allow no-one to join. Or the game hates you.

You have the gold so it should work. Are you sure you're connected? Did you get banned at xbox, or email xbox and tell the administrator your problem. That's what I would do. Hope you didn't bend your cable wire.

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

It is usually just a router problem, happens to me every so often. I just unplug, then replug it in, then it is all good from there!

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

Online co-op was something I looked forward to with baited breath and after trying it a few times I gave up. There are countless things I dislike about it but basically what it comes down to is that Fable 2 has a nice little focus set around being unique in your own world and shaping it as you see fit. I pride myself on creating a character and putting effort into its appearance and style and the inability to use my own character in my friends world is something that irks me a great deal.

The camera is the next thing and the main reason why I do not use the co-op. I understand the limitations and what is required to allow people to fully explore an entirely customized world such as the one in Fable. I assume it wont be able to read how your world is from your friends save game due to the numerous choices and parameters in game but constricting the player to stay within a certain range of the other would have worked on a much better level providing that each player were allowed their own camera control. It jerks, gets stuck behind posts, looses targets outside the screen and just generally is probably the most awkward camera style I have ever witnessed since the original Resident Evil.

Some of this may have been forgiven and forgotten if the offline co-op was any better. You should be able to load your own character from your personal save game on a memory card and explore your friends world as you see fit in offline co-op, I assume that wouldn't be too difficult to pull of but it was missing that as well.

Ah well, theres always F3.

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

its good but not perfect.a couple annoying things about it tho

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

Weirdkid, I basically agree with you. I don't care about being a henchman, so long as I have my own spells and skills, but the camera... it's horrible.

I've only played couch, with my sister, but it would be so cool if it were splitscreen. Or SOMETHING better than what it is. We always end up at opposite ends of the screen killing things miles apart. It helps some if I play ranged/Will and just try to stay right behind her while she hack-and-slashes, but not as much as splitscreen would. Not being able to see right just ruins it.

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

i voted for the bottom but my real feelings are its ok but needs fixing or i wont play it... control of camera and play as own character would make it a million times better...

Re: Fable II Online Co-op

I was going to buy a wireless connection on the 360 purely for fable 2 co-op mode, picked the device about to buy it a mate phone me " dude how was fable2"
"fine enjoyed it rush it tho"
"you tried co-op yet"
"nah gettin wireless connector as we talkin"
"I wouldnt all my mates all over the country have had their files corrupted and cant play on them"
"ok thanks bye"
and i put it down and walked out ill be testing out what he said in a internet cafe before i pay 80 quid for a account and 60 quid for a wirless connection thank ya very much :D

Yuppers- gave the co-op another try last night while doing the Crucible with a friend. Personally I found it a bit better, think I am getting used to it a bit more. A big problem is definately ending up at opposing sides of the screen- and if you ever try to aim a gun while in co-op its atrocious. And to think, all that co-op chaos could have been resolved by limiting distance between characters on screen and allowing each person to rotate their own camera independently of the others. Oh well, we can only hope for a patch or something to resolve this but I doubt it tbh.

Yeah, we can hope. Targeting actually worked pretty well for me, though. I have... whichever level of dexterous styles allows you to pull head-groin-hand shots; and I was able to get lockons pretty easy-- blowing their weapons out of their hands just as my sister hit them in the face with a sharp metal object was apparently a good method. Unfortunately it backfired because we kept getting the damn slow-mo kills; and when they were over I'd be standing there getting beat on by bad guys.

But really, I would love it if they patched it.

Oh, and we did try the Crucible. It worked... pretty well. The only problem was getting agreement on where the hell we were going and keeping from blowing each other up.

Hehe, when you're doing the Crucible just max out inferno or swords and stand on top of each other and chain cast them, or else have somebody on slow time duty keeping it up as much as they can and throwing out damage when they can and the other just running crazily around, its pretty fun. We managed to get ourselves knocked through the floor during the Troll on our first time as a duo in the Crucible, was one of those ho**** we borked the game moments lol.
