Fable III Concept Sketches

If there's one thing I love to do, it's sketch things, particularly things related to gaming. Recently, I began thinking about Fable III and what I would like to see in it. (Yes, this was definitely the result of browsing this thread.) Not being content with simply talking about it, I've decided to draw it out.

To start things off, I began with drawing the different longswords. So far, I have five of the planned seven created. So, here they are.

Longswords
Rusty Longsword
http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/8787/rustylongswordbetter.png
Weight: Light
Speed: Medium
Attack: 23.0
Price: 80 gold

Description:
This old, rusted weapon seems better suited for fighting off wasps or beetles than bandits. That nasty edge doesn't leave much room for cleanliness, though, so you might be able to give a man a nasty case of lockjaw.

Bronze Longsword
http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/299/bronzelongswordbetter.png
Weight: Light
Speed: Medium
Attack: 46.0
Price: 200 gold

Description:
While the common role of bronze is in the production of ornate bronze nails, some still trust it enough to create bladed weapons. Hopefully it will hold up...

Iron Longsword
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/6313/ironlongswordbetter.png
Weight: Light
Speed: Medium
Attack: 64.0
Price: 1,000 gold

Description:
Iron is the metal of choice for many weapons, longswords included. While these durable blades can't fell the largest of creatures, they can fell most everything else.

Steel Longsword
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/2466/steellongswordbetter.png
Weight: Light
Speed: Medium
Attack: 82.0
Price: 5,000 gold

Description:
Many centuries ago, people found a way to refine iron into steel and began making durable, deadly blades from it. That process has changed over time, but these swords are still deadly and durable.

Titanium Longsword
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/1764/titaniumlongswordbetterj.png
Weight: Light
Speed: Medium
Attack: 100.0
Price: 12,000 gold

Description:
Though it was only recently discovered, titanium has earned a reputation as an unimaginably durable metal. Blades made from it are damn near unbreakable and can pierce just about anything.

Obsidian Longsword
http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/409/obsidianlongsword.png
Weight: Light
Speed: Medium
Attack: 136.0
Price: 24,000 gold
Alignment: -5
Scariness: +5

Description:
Fearsome blades crafted from a type of volcanic glass called obsidian. While few deny their power, all have come to fear them as they have been associated with bandits and other such wrong doers.

Master Longsword
http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/300/masterlongsword.png
Weight: Light
Speed: Medium
Attack: 136.0
Price: 24,000 gold
Alignment: +5
Scariness: -5

Description:
As with all Master weapons, this longsword is made of an unbreakable metal not seen since the Old Kingdom. Because of their beautiful appearance and use by noble figures such as guards, these weapons have become icons of sorts for those who desire peace and justice, and are respected throughout Albion.

Scythes
Rusty Scythe
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/4660/rustyscythe.png
Weight: Heavy
Speed: Slow
Attack: 24.0
Price: 120 gold

Description:
This scythe was at one point a useful tool for harvesting various crops, but years of use have left it pitted and relatively dulled.

Bronze Scythe
http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/6209/bronzescythe.png
Weight: Heavy
Speed: Slow
Attack: 48.0
Price: 720 gold

Description:
Though its best days have long since come and gone and it has probably been replaced by a sturdier iron counterpart, this brazen farm tool still maintains a decently sharp edge, making it an effective tool for harvesting plants with tough shoots or cleaving flesh and bone.

There you go, I hope you enjoy them. I promise you, I will try and make future sketches, well, better than these, and hopefully on paper that isn't colored. If you have any comments or criticism, please feel free to post. I'm always seeking new ways to improve.

welcome to the fourms

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

A little delayed in the welcoming, aren't we? I kid, I kid. ;) Nevertheless, thank you for the compliments.

Also, instead of posting the original drawings, I've decided to recreate them in Photoshop. It's much easier than I thought and the results are a lot nicer. I've updated the first post with the new and improved Iron, Steel, and Titanium images.

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

Thats very cool!

I personally think they should have..

Wood Swords, Bronze, Iron, Steel, Titanium, Obsiden, Master and like.. Legendary. Like more variety.. Get what I mean?

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

Yeah, Thats aobut it. Then his mum comes in and tells him to be quiet. :D Haha!

Heh, I somehow doubt a wooden sword would be effective in combat.

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

^ Are you sure about that? All you have to do is hit them across the head and it knocks them out?

Heard of a Bokken? I use to train with them, When i did Ninjutsu. They're PRACTICE swords, But they're still very deadily.

Some Samurai used a Wooden sword when he was younger, or at the start or something like that. I dont think it was Musashi Miyamoto.. But it could of.. Meh.

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

Hm, no, I can't say I've seen or heard of a bokken, so I'm rather ignorant when it comes to its ability to end someone's life.

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

Or "bokuto". And yes, their blow can be very powerful and deadly. In games like Way of the Samurai, they're rare and collectible weapons. Wielding a wooden sword in Fable can be cool too and looks Kinda badass.

Very nice designs btw.

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

Wow, awesome. I wish I had some skills in drawning :/ No one gave you rep so... I'm gonna be the first to do it!

Rumors say that Fable 3 will be set in the 18th centur, i think that weapons like these will be outdated and too primitive

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

I dunno, a bokken of some sort could make an appearance as a Legendary weapon. It wouldn't necessarily have the strength of some of the others, but augmentations can go a long way.

Oh, and I've gotten around to replacing the hand-drawn Rusty Longsword with the Photoshop edition.

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

how far are you into fable 2
Meohs

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

I've beaten it twice already. Why do you ask?

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

nice drawings when im making a mod i sure want you in my team as somone who edits textures :P

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

Why thank you.

By the way, I have the Obsidian Longsword up. I'm not too happy with it, to tell the truth. It looks too short, and I can't find a spot on the blade where I can stretch it out to increase its length.

Either way, there you go. I'll get around to doing the Master Longsword later on today. Hopefully this one will turn out better because it's not so asymmetrical.

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

^ I suck at Drawing haha!

Can you draw me like a Scythe? Like a Weapon that could be a Scythe but in Fable.. If that helps? Haha.

Or maybe a Katana but a REALLY cool looking one? Haha, you're good at drawing. :D

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

^ Yeah I didnt really like them in Fable.. It just didnt look right in the game.. But i wish you could you Use objects as Weapons that arent REALLy Weapons.

e.g. Scythe, Not really a weapon but a farming tool, or a Pitchfork, Get what im going at?

Re: Fable III Concept Sketches

I normally don't do commissions, but I like the idea of a scythe. I'll see what I can come up with.
