Fable IV

Donno if this is the right place for this thread but who cares.
We already know that Fable III Will be set 50 years into the future, I think that Fable IV should be set in the past, possibly in the 500 years between fable and fable II, possible play during the fall of heros. Discuss.

Re: Fable IV

Fable 3 isn't even out yet, wait at least a year after beating fable 3 and then talk about this

Re: Fable IV

^ Yes, but PM said he wants Fable IV and V.. So i'm not seeing any problem in discussing it.

Re: Fable IV

Yes like Zjuggernaut said, The 4th and 5th games have been confirmed. The discussion is rather valuable in my opinion, a good reason for this would be that peter molyneux has already said he goes on some forums and checks out idea's. So for all we know he could be looking over us right now, "EVERYBODY! SMARTEN UP PETER IS WATCHING" So yeah, I feel that the next game should be set in the past ratherr then further forward, continueing to go forward would end up with another vversion of GTA.

Re: Fable IV

EDIT: I misread your post.

Anyway. Like people have stated, I don't think it's really a good time to discuss this yet. Fable II could have easily gone another way but it didn't (and some people felt it was a let down). Honestly, I think we should just let it roll down the hill and make its own path.

Of course, if you ask me personally... I'd like for them to make an Action game similar to Force Unleashed or Devil May Cry, where you play the roll of William Black, fighting the King, Queen and Jack of Blades. 8D

Re: Fable IV

Eh, there's not really a problem discussing Fable 4. Since the massive flow of interviews and information from E3 has already ended, we don't have much Fable 3 stuff to talk about anyway.

I could see Fable 4 being set in one of three time periods:

1. The Old Kingdom, but after William Black disappeared

2. The fall of the Heroes' Guild to tell the story of how the Archon's bloodline escaped the Guild's destruction

3. Not long after Fable 3. They could still eek out a little bit of time where guns aren't quite advanced enough to make melee weapons obsolete.

I could see that happening if Fable expanded and became more than just an RPG franchise, but they won't make Fable 4 or 5 into a game like that.

Oh, and I just thought I should clarify that Fable 4 and 5 haven't been officially confirmed. Good ol' Pete just said he's got plans for them.

Re: Fable IV

Yea, honestly, I my wish for the fable franchise was to have 4 and 5 set before fable 2 and 6, the final one, being set from the beginning of heros all the way to the end of the game. The character for this may possibly be scythe but eh.

Anyways, speaking of Fable 4, I do agree, it should be set back in time. The problem with this is that many will miss the advanced technologies and whatnot of Fable 2. But then again, it could turn out to be a very awesome adventure. Maybe you could meet Heros like Scarlet Robes and Thunder, and Weaver and Twinblade, all when they were young. It'd be a dream come true for many.

I agree, it's never to soon to consider possibilties. I'm glad this has been brought up for discussion.

Personally I would like to see a game set in the old Kingdom, I think the series still has a lot of mileage left to cover. Plus series doesn't always have to go forward in time so a game about Albions early History may work really well.

Re: Fable IV

I was showing off new screens of fable 3 to a complete anglophile (trying to get their opinion on the place) and after seconds of examining the architecture they said 'oh is this set in the 1500s?' (something about the houses being Tudors...)

I guess my point is I don't recall swords being obsolete untill what, the 1800s and even then ranked military men still carried sabers and rifles still came with a fitting for bayonets (now that would be fun...more gunbladez)

Anyway, the beauty of being so far along in a series is that the characters start writing the story for you. The fantasy setting still has plenty of space to grow. We may even have on our hands a perfectly good steam punk action rpg. I think forward is better...but that's just one mans opinion.

Re: Fable IV

Not as a direct sequel but I think the rebellion of Weaver and Maze and all them would be an awesome prequel game.

I would like to see that. That's the good thing about Fable. it has a very rich timeline. The possibilities are almost endless.

Re: Fable IV

One word... prequel...
3 ideas that come to my mind are:
1- You play as William Black (aka Scythe) and fight the The Court...
2- You play as Guildmaster and do all the rebels stuff...
3- You play as a good old Nostro and found the hero guild...

Ideal scenarios. :)

You see, the problem with things like that is that you can't create your own unique Hero, which is what Fable is all about. You're forced to be a certain character whose decisions and alignments are predetermined. Like I said before, I could see these stories being put into Fable games if the series expands beyond an RPG franchise. They could be more linear action adventure type games like The Force Unleashed. These scenarios wouldn't be right for Fable 4 or 5 though.

Re: Fable IV

Imagine they go all the way up to space travel...?
That would be something to see if they pull that off.

Re: Fable IV

so Fable suddently becomes Final Fantasy...NICE!

I'd like Fable to be released in early industrial times.

Like, Fable III is, but I;d like to see the first cars in the streets, like an early New York, Chicago or something.
