Fable Music Stutter PC

Since changing to a new motherboard I have been having a strange background music stutter problem.
Whenever I move the character the music stutters.
It seems whenever areas are getting loaded up this stutter occurs hence when moving the character.
I thought it may have been the onboard sound so I went and bought an Audigy 2 ZS which did not solve the problem.

Looking on for help, apparently changing the value in a registry file for the sound card was supposed to fix it which does not, just reduces it.

I have a ASUS P4P800 SE motherboard which was supposed to be better than my old motherboard but then messes up the music in Fable.

Anyone having the same problem?

Welcome to the Forum Bazz
What kind of video card do you have?

Re: Fable Music Stutter PC

Did you make sure that you downloaded the latest drivers for the Audigy 2 ZS after you put it in your computer?

Re: Fable Music Stutter PC

What ram do you have?

Re: Fable Music Stutter PC

Also what else are you running at the same time

Re: Fable Music Stutter PC

Because I've had problems with Music stuttering only when I had a bunch of other things running. Big things (like itunes, or Azureus)

Re: Fable Music Stutter PC

Here's my system specs:-

P4 2.4Ghz 533FSB
Gigabyte nVidia 7600GS
1.5G RAM (1GB PC3200, 2x 256 PC2700)
ASUS P4P800 SE
160GB SATA
80GB PATA
Audigy 2 ZS Sound Card

I have the latest drivers for the Audigy Series & for my GPU

I have no Apps running when playing games.

Sooner or later I'll be finding out if it's a motherboard issue since my brother has the exact same motherboard, but he has high end hardware connected to his motherboard.

e.g 3.06Ghz 800FSB HT processor, 2GB PC3200 RAM, ATI X800XT and those are the only parts which are different to my PC.

So he'll be installing the game on to his PC to see what happens.

So I'm wondering if the is a incompatibility because of one of the installed hardware?

Either GPU, CPU or RAM?

Perhaps the Motherboard does not like CPU's with a slower FSB than 800Mhz?

Re: Fable Music Stutter PC

Having different speed Ram can ball things up sometimes. With 1.5 G it'd hard to imagine that you running out of memory but I have 1 GB and I run out every now and then.

Are you running anything else when you have the problem with music. i have had that same problem but it went away when I closed the other programs I was running, particularly messenger for some reason.

Re: Fable Music Stutter PC

Tried the RAM thing.
I took out the P2700 sticks before and just used the 1Gig stick which din't make any difference.

One guy at the Lionhead Fable forum was talking about an IRQ conflict.
But I thought all this was sorted out after Windows 98'
I thought windows XP was supposed to automatically assign the right IRQ's to each device without causing conficts.

Two devices using the same IRQ causing audio ticks at random times.

Figuring out what is using the same IRQ is above me.

I went to device manager and looked at what devices are using the same IRQ.
It looks like there are a couple of devices doing that but I don't really know what they are.

Could be, let us know what happens on your brothers machine...

Fable Music Stutter PC FIXED properly!

After months of trying to figure out what was wrong with my PC I have finally found the issues!:D

2 problems with my PC caused this Fable music stutter.

First of all I had changed the motherboard then Fable had some odd stutters in the music.
So I went out ande bought an Audigy 2 ZS which did not fix this problem.
In fact it made it worse.

Searching around I found out the Audigy 2 (ZS) & 4 series need to have te turbo in one of the registrys changed to the value 0 instead of 1.

Tried the game again and indeed it did help with the music stutter but did not completely get rid of it.:realmad:

So I looked for the oldest thing in my rig to replace which was the 2.4Ghz 512mb 800FSB CPU made in 2001.

I replaced it with a Prescott 3.0Ghz 1mb 800FSB HT CPU.

This was going to be the last thing I was going to replace on my rig since it is dated & luckily for me this IS the answer to the music stutter issue in Fable.

For some strange reason the new motherboard, an ASUS P4P800 SE did not like the old CPU.
