Fable TLC doesn't even start

Fable TLC doesn't even start

OK i installed fable on my computer 3 times now (no problems with the install) and every time i have the same problem i put in the fable disk and the menu pops up, it says play, uninstall etc. i press play, the window closes nothing happeneds except that there is a Fable.exe in my processes taking up half my CPU.

i'm not sure if i did something wrong during install or what i'm running windows vista all my drivers are up to date and i'm very confused please help.

Make a shortcut on your desktop, run in compatabilty mode for xp. Run as administrator.

My specs are
4 GB of ram
NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G
AMD Athlon Dual Core QL-64 2.10GHz
Vista 64-bit
and i am running it under compatibility and as an admin
my direct x is 10
and the vista "update does not apply"

Do you have direct x 9 installed? (You need different versions for different games sometimes)

Does it offer a safe mode, and pop up saying 'Fable wasn't closed correctly last time' ?

I have tried safe mode sometimes and it worked. If it doesn't, just alt F4 and see if it does.

Also, is fable still running? (you said it was) try alt tabbing into the game?

and what do mean by alt tabbing into the game?

hold down (alt) and (tab) now keep alt down and hit tab until you get to fable (which should be running in the background) and let go of the keys. Does it come up on screen?

no it doesn't work i only know that the Fable.exe is running because i see it in task manager's processes

Have you updated windows before? If you havent I suggest getting to Service Pack 2 (your on vista right?)

i have but it's all automatic the only time i tried to update manually was for the vista uodate above.
as for the service pack 2 i don't know for sure if i have it but i probably do. i'll run the auto update to see if somethings available

Can anybody tell whether the problem is related to 64-bit? I've heard many XP programs failing to work for Vista and Windows 7 because of it.

i tried installing the updates and they "don't apply to my system" and im puting it in compatibility made correctly according to it.

And I think it could be either, your sound card, background programs such as antiviruses, your operating system is a tad corrupted and needs a new install, bad copy of your game, low virtual memory, or your drivers.

I suggest trying the least serious changes all the way to the most serious to try to get it running.

Hmm well it's not my well it's not my game because it works just fine on my friends computer (he has Vista 64 bit as well) i hope it's not my OS because it came installed on my laptop. so i guess i'll just pray that it's my sound card (Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221) or my antivirus (AVG).

Thanks for your help if i get it working (or not) i'll post it here.

well it's not my sound chip or my antivirus so i guess it's my OS, sigh i don't want to reinstall windows, but then again is worth having a computer without fable
