Fallout 3

Which has the most benefits, Good Karma or Evil Karma? I bought it about a week ago and have yet to really play it ( not out of Vault yet ) and have an idea on what my SPECIAL/Skill points are going to be. But i'm fairly clueless on which is the better alignment. +repfor any help

Re: Fallout 3

All depends on which way you want to go about doing your quests. It mainly effects which companions you can acquire in the game.

Re: Fallout 3

Ahh, do the towns have an Economy like Fable's where if your bad everything sucks >.>

Also which are you :D

Yeah, Fallout 3 has it's own economy. Unlike Fable 2, if you kill all the trader caravans in Fallout 3, they will not respawn back, and will be dead for the rest of the game. This includes them traveling across the wasteland and getting attacked by one of the enemy creatures in the game... like say..

A trader caravan such as Lucky Harith's is traveling across the wasteland, he gets attacked by a Yao Guai duo or Super Mutants, him and his caravan are killed by them, and they will never come back to life in the game. Just part of the unpredictability of the radiant AI that's present in Fallout 3. This can ruin your chance to get some nifty items they may find on their scheduled routes in the future.

Being evil has it's own benefits, as well as being Good or Neutral.

Good
If you're a very good person, people will respond to you kindly at random, kids will call you their hero, random settlers will greet you with gifts, etc. You will also have access to the most powerful companion in the game if you have good karma. Some people will also offer you discounts for your kindness. You can also join the ranks of the Regulators (a faction of law bringing officers).

Evil
You can choose to kill everyone and take everything they have (which is great for having an excellent stock of supplies), children will not like you and some will not even talk to you, dialogue choices for you will be different, etc. But keep in mind, if you go on a killing spree in the game to every town, village, and camp you come across.. the world will get rather lonely, because those you kill will never respawn back (except for those enemy creatures). I think you're able to join a Mercenary faction if you are evil, also.

Neutral
If you choose to be Neutral however, then you can benefit from some of things on both sides of Evil & Good, as well as neutral exclusive benefits.

In my opinion though, I find it to be more rewarding if you're evil since anyone you kill you are able to take everything they own, rewarding you with tons of items. So rather than being a good guy and struggle for caps, I can be evil and kill that person right there and now and take whatever I want. Traveling the wastelands with Charon & Clover behind my back makes it rather easy and entertaining when I want to pillage a town of innocent people.

Oh, and also.. Other special benefits can also be available to you if you have certain well leveled skills. Like a high Speech/Charisma will reward you with successful dialog challenges, certain karma levels will grant you access to places you couldn't get to before, and so on.

Hope all of that helps.

Re: Fallout 3

I'm always Neutral. I do whatever I want, not guided by a need to always doing the evil or good alternative. Kill that guy, save that guy. Loot that place, save that place ect ect..

Re: Fallout 3

Thanks a lot for the info :) I think i''m gonna be evil. Small Arms, Repair, and Medicine is the way to go with Tag skills right? That's what i've got already.

Re: Fallout 3

What you want is basically 1 fighting skill, and Repair, then whatever you feel like. So you're all good. Tag skills aren't that important in F3 as they are in the others anyway.

The difference between your tagged skills and normal skills is just a boost of 15 points, while in the other games your tag skills would increase twice as fast as your other skills making it much more important to pick good tag skills.

Re: Fallout 3

Evil = Lots of money!!
Good = Not as much money because you have to buy everything!!

Great game though

That's just true for the early, eaaaarly stage of the game. You don't have to steal everything not nailed to the floor to be able to buy whatever you want.

Remember - villain characters such as Raiders and Enclave Troopers have valuable things too, which you can take from them.

Re: Fallout 3

F3 can be done with XBL right? IF yes, whats the difference between LIVE play and normal play?

There isnt any online play for it.

Re: Fallout 3

Really? I would have swore it had LIVE on the corner. Oh well.

Yeah dont mistake that for being able to play online, just means there will be content available on Live for it.

Re: Fallout 3

Ahh I see.

Which would be considered "better" in the long run, blowing up or saving Megaton.

Re: Fallout 3

I saved megaton, but I'm playing as a good character. I would assume destroying it would earn you a one tme cap reward, whilst saving it lets you keep your access to all it's resources.

Re: Fallout 3

I ended up blowing it up :) I was hoping for fireworks but got a mushroom cloud :(

Re: Fallout 3

Mushroom clouds are the Rolls Royce of explosions.

What'd you expect? It's an atom bomb...

Can you post screenshots of the ruins? Also what does Three-dog say about it?

Re: Fallout 3

I didn't get the threedog, I went downstairs to get some breakfast and I think my dog sat on my controller, the game was on the main menu and my saves were gone >.>
