So, jammed out Far Cry 3, finished it, and let me tell you, it is the most amazing game ever.

If you like games that draw you into the story and sort of make you "feel" like you're there and have some sort of emotional attachment to it, this is the game for you. Fable has been trying to do that for years, some works, but not alot, this game right here exceeds them easily.

The last mission is intense, not JUST that mission, but it definitely was a "Sitting on the edge of your seat" moments.

The great thing about this game is, is that you can play it anyway you like, you can go around killing anyone and everything with big machine guns, or be sneaky and silent like a ninja, or strategies and lay traps or use the environment and animals around you to your advantage, this game has a lot of diversity. I also like how the character isnt some typical hero punk, whos awesome at everything and sounds like a real hero, just a dude, who likes extreme outdoor sports. But this game has to be probably the best game I have ever played.

If you haven't played this game yet, and you're into any of that, I'd highly recommend it!

Anybody else played/playing it with any feedback or similarity?

Edit: Also, game soundtrack, Awesome.

Played every other Far Cry game before, loved the first couple, didn't really like Far Cry '2' but I've only heard good things about numero 3. Probably pick it up whenI get bored of Halo

Absolutely love this game and I'll admit to sadly never playing the previous entries of the series. When I saw the trailers and press my first impression was that of another pretty shooter in the vein of Crysis, boy was I ever wrong. The amount of nonsense you can do in this game is pretty awesome, and right from the game's starting point the storytelling is so well done that it doesn't take long for me to start caring about Jason and his friends. Vaas, is one bad son of a bitch. Period.

The world is so huge (like Skyrim huge), that I've really not done much in the story I'm just too busy exploring, hunting, doing side quests, raiding camps, blowing things up and driving like a crazed crackhead down dirt mountains. But I will say it's not without its faults, honestly.

First I do have to disagree about Jason, yeah I like that he's an average Joe with an athletic background, but at the same time. Soon as I got my first taste of free-roam, it didn't take long before I felt like a Rambo. I mean, the guy right away heals himself by pulling bullets out his body with his MOUTH like he's a Terminator. And he doesn't scream in pain like a scared boy (which is what he's supposed to be), he simply digs out the item and gets back to business every time. The inconsistency does mess with the immersion for me sometimes.

The other issues I have is the lack of some environmental/NPC interactivity, NPC sound quality, and incredibly short tomb explorations. I don't know why, but for some reason the NPCs sound like they were recorded via a walkie-talkie, they just don't sound anywhere near as clear & crisp as the main cast. Plus they feel like simple non-interactive decor for atmosphere and repeat the same 2 lines way too often "We will clean this island of pirates. Citra promised!" I've explored atleast 9 tombs now with the longest one lasting me about 40 seconds... Skyrim has reaaally spoiled me, but even with that they're way too short. The game could definitely do with more interaction between all the objects that are statically placed about, which would really take the gameplay a step further especially for those who like to play the stealth role.

But the negatives aside, this game has continued to pull me away from both Dishonored & Borderlands 2 and I can easily recommend this game.

^ Yeah I agree with the part about Jason turning into Rambo, I guess they can only do so much in that area.

And yes, the tombs/caves are not very long, but then again the difference between Far Cry 3 and Skyrim, is that you dont need to load a new map for the cave, its all linked up in the big map.. So maybe thats why they made them quite short..?

Haha yeah, the NPC's are pretty repetitive, did you know they were based on Maori? (NZ Native dude) and alot of their culture and what-not, kind of cool, never seen it in a game before, and their accents are the typical Maori/Kiwi accent.

Yeah, I've yet to play any game that manages to pull off such a feat successfully, without scaling things back a lot for the character inadvertently making things boring. Even the new Tomb Raider looks like it'll be having the same issue.

Probably so, though it does get a bit better when they throw a puzzle or two in there to add some longevity. No biggie though, since the side quests do make up for it with the amount of variety in challenges and can be a bit lengthy.

I had a feeling, cause when I first saw them my first thought was that they were based on the Samoan culture and tribes, especially because of the tattoo designs which are very similar in style. But yeah, it is cool. Especially when you see how there's like a split between Citra's people and the regular civilians.. one side is stuck knee-deep in ancient traditions, while the others are simply the everyday folk of today trying to get by.

Also wanted to add, I normally hate mounted gun use and missions that force you to use them because of the clunkiness, but in FC3, I love it. The way it handles, feels, and the gorgeous aftermath is so satisfying to the point it gets a bit of the adrenaline pumping. If I see a jeep with a mounted gun anywhere, I'm on it like white on rice.

Love the game & I played Far Cry & Far Cry 2 and neither impressed me that much (original was good but disliked 2), really enjoying Far Cry 3 however. It has finally pulled me away from Skyrim & its the reason I have another 6 games sitting there still in the packaging that I havent even picked up yet. I really like how many things they gave you to do in this one & the world feels alive (besides the NPC's), the wildlife & unpredictable nature of them gives you a feeling of dread when in darkness & rain in the jungle. Never know whats going to leap out at you when your low on ammo sneaking around enemy checkpoints.

I quite liked how the guy did start as an average joe, though his advance into Rambo styled badass killer is a little fast. It makes a change from being former military etc stereotype that you character seems to be in most games. The game overall has been a refreshing change to most FPS games, some good RPG style elements too.
