So I recently celebrated my 25th birthday, quarter of a century and apart from some qualifications I don't feel like I have achieved much with my life. I work an average job and have a very average life, except for being a super hero at the weekends and every other Tuesday. Anyway, I decided to give myself something to work toward, in a bid to try and place some meaning in my life and get some life styled achievement points I started to create a list of fifty things I would like to do or achieve before I reach the age of fifty. I need some help with it though- getting stuck at like 15 things, I don't really aspire to do great things lol.

So- anybody got any suggestions for me? Anybody else have a list like this? What things would you like to do before you hit fifty?

^_^

(we all have our own bucket lists, don't blame me for having to draw from mine i'll check the ones i've done so you know they're good)
get a tattoo
go on a cross country road trip (check)
go to an enormous rock festival
write an amature article and get it accepted into a newspaper or magazine
start a website
learn to play a musical instrument (check)
learn a martial art (check)
take part in a threesome....being the only participant of your gender (check)
try your hand at songwriting
try a drug (check)
do something ridiculous and spontaneous (check)
experience the adrenaline rush of performing vandalism at least once... be it removing street signs, hotel room numbers, or spray painting. any form will do. (check)

Most of those aren't on my list, but quite a lot I have actually already done- tattoo, rock festival, website, musical instrument, songwriting, drugs, spontaneousness, vandalism.

I do like the idea of a cross country road trip though, which country did you tour-de-force across?

Cool, personally would rather traverse Europe but I guess thats personal preference- anything specific that you seen that you felt was particularly striking or beautiful?
it was a matter of being realistic. i can't afford a transatlantic plane ticket and travel expenses.
as far as the views go, grand canyon was pretty sweet. i love country roads. camping, the occasional theme park, cheap food.
the whole experience is great. you get sick of the car after a while, but as long as you plan enough stops that you've got something cool in the immediate future most of the way you won't get tired of it before it's over.

Ahhh, you're from the other side of the pond, didn't realise hehe. You traversing America would be much the same as me traversing Europe- cost effective for the better part of things. Did you travel by yourself or did you go with a friend? As much I would love to do something like that, going solo would drive me crazy but going with somebody would do the same, between a rock and a hard place.

well, i didn't have my license so naturally i didn't go alone. xD
i went with my cousin and his friend. seriously, if you go on a road trip with someone, even if you don't know them that well... you've got a friend for life by the end of it.
that's not to say don't go with a friend or close relative, it's a real joy no matter who you go with. you'd have to be a pretty lonely person to go it alone, though. i couldn't ever imagine doing that unless it was for a living.

What's with all the pot heads? lol

My plans and dreams are going to Japan, but I'm doing that as soon as I'm out of school so I wouldn't classify it as one of my "before I turn 50" goals. On somewhat the same note, I'm only 17 so I don't really have any "before I turn 5" goals yet. Hah. XD

Cheez- I guess the idea behind going it alone would be that it gives you a lot of time by yourself to reflect and reconsider your direction in life. Which for me right now may not be a bad idea lol, a lack of life direction is one of the reasons why I am starting this list in the first place, so maybe some alone time for a spell and reflection on what I want and not what others expect of me may be good. Then again, what are memories without somebody to share them with :)

Rukishou; pot heads! NEVER! Lol, Japan would be amazing, its the flight time from the UK that completely puts me off ><

I would also not mind getting an awesome tattoo, but it's never been a passion (wot now? XD) and in Japan, many onsen and stuff still thinks having a tattoo means being in the yakuza... so I might hold on with that.

Could always get a tiny one that meant something and have it somewhere not very obvious. I have two tattoos and neither is outside of a tshirt line.

Usually, in Japanese onsen, you know you don't wear much more than a towel... and unless you're really self-concious and a foreigner (the Japanese simply don't care XD) you'd take that off as well once you enter the spring. lol

You mean- NEKKID! Ok, there isnt a lot of places to hide a tattoo then lol ^_^

SelfAppointed; Same man, the culture within the entire country would be amazing. It would be a truly amazing experience, unforgettable as I have heard it described xD

Similarly, I made a 'List of things to do this year.'

1.) Get up before 9:30pm, on a weekend (Done).
2.) Grow hair long (Done).
3.) Remember how to spell Godzilla in Japanese (Not done).
4.) Ponder on the meaning of life (Done).
5.) Tidy room (Not Done).
6.) Save a substantial amount of money (£100+) just for the satisfaction of it (Done).

Hehe, reminds me to remember the simpler things. Not the extravagant. Thanks man, can you recommend anything?

Standard things like bungee jumping and sky diving?

What about something like visiting all seven continents?

And it's good to see you're still alive!
