Forum Idea..

what if there was an alignment on the forum to where every members posts where ranked as either "good" or "evil" by the other members, that way his or her alignment would change to the posts response. the alignment for each member would be seen under the "rank" image..

for example:

I leave a post like "i think your idea is lame." to a thread about something. well, thats negative right? so, another member would come along and rank it as "evil" and my alignment would change accordingly.

same would work with positive posts with a "good" alignment.

anybody think that would be neat?

Aeon your full of ideas today, that is a good idea and I'll rep you for it. But again as i said on your other idea how would the technical part work? Who and how would your comments be counted as good or evil? Who would decide it?

It's a great idea Aeon, but I think it'd be hard to incorporate into the forum. Great that you posted this though, perhaps we can use this in the future.

Hmm... Personally, I don't know squat about about forum software...well, I do know some, I'm not a total buffoon, but if it could be used to integrate something like this is beyond me. We'll see what ProjetEgo has to say when he comes online.

However, I fear it might tempt a lot of people to make moronic comments just to get evil points.

well, like i said it would be up to the other users.. and techical wise, it would work similar to the Rep system..

Good and evil, sounds like positive and negative rep to me. And he got rid of that system.

If it exists as an add-on to the current forum software you can bet your eyeballs it won't be used here simply because of the strain it puts on the server. We disabled the negative rep option because it was being abused and people were losing rep faster than they were gaining it thanks to petty arguments and personal vendettas.

It would be a cool addition to the site and in line with the Fable theme, but I don't think it would happen any time soon.

understandable, but i would expect it to be seperate of the rep system. but, the idea seems to be getting negative feedback as of now, thanks to those that thought the idea was decent.

It's not a crap idea - don't go thinking that's what people mean. It's just implementing it may be incredibly difficult and put pressure on our already-overtaxed server.

If this was the only site we had to support then we'd be going nuts with add-ons (becuase I like them ) - but we have many sites and they all need a similar level of attention.

Keep your ideas coming though because there may be some which are very much possible to work out

Everyone makes a lot of sense. However I also think it would go well with the fable theme but having an evil rep wouldn't necesarilly have any perks so only someone seeking a bad reputation would do something to make themselves seem unlikeable.

It would, to some extent, make people think twice about saying something that will get them to lose rep.

I think it`s a nice idea, but it`s really hard to judge if a post is evil or good. Any disagreement would be evil? That`s not right. And if you really are acting bad, you`ll get banned. :lol:
