Four questions. Spoilers?

I got the game on release day, but since I've been working a lot lately I haven't played it THAT much. I just have a few questions before I get further into the game.

1.) How long is the actual story quest, without doing side missions, etc?

2.) Do you miss out on any missions depending on your alignment? I mean, if I'm super good, or even neutral, are there quests that I just gon't get to take part in?

3.) Is there any other way to take part in the assassin missions besides not having handed those warrants in to the sheriff when you're a child? Because I didn't do that. D'oh.

4.) I liked how I was playing before, neutral, and my personality tab reflected that. However, I decided to go on a random guard killing rampage and now I'm a lot more evil and...I want to go back to how I was before. What's a good way to bump myself back up to neutral again?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Four questions. Spoilers?

1.) It would be wise to invest some time in other pursuits so you'll be strong enough to move along the main quests without trouble, but I would wager about 10 hours if you sped through everything.

2.) Yes, you do. I won't get into details in case you prefer not to hear spoilers, but I can think of certain instances where quests are only available if you took a specifically evil or good role earlier on. Also, you may want to avoid doing a handful of quests based on your alignment because of the ramifications.

3.) Yes. Though the opportunity arises far later in the game, in the port town of Bloodstone. There are also "Civilian Displacement" jobs you can take part in about mid-game which have to do with capturing people to sell them into slavery. You may be interested in those if you'd like an evil hero.

4.) Donating to the Temple of Light is the most straightforward way to garner good points. I'd recommend donating in increments of 1000 gold to benefit the most (the more you donate at a time the less the points are added on, where if you only offer 1000 at a time you'll continually get 25 points per addition). Of course, you can also make fairly obvious "nice" decisions during quests, take on jobs such as slave rescue missions, and surprisingly playing the lute helps as well.

Re: Four questions. Spoilers?

1.) I would advise taking part in a few of the side quests simply to make the main missions easier for yourself, however I believe someone could speed through the game in about ten hours.

2.) Yes, you do. In case you prefer to avoid spoilers I won't get into detail, however I can think of several instances where certain quests only become available depending on what role, either good or evil, you've taken in the past. There are also certain missions you simply may wish to avoid based on your alignment.

3.) Yes. However, they only become available fairly late in the game within the port city of Bloodstone. If you're interested in becoming an evil hero there are "Civilian Displacement" jobs that arise mid-game which have to do with capturing people and selling them into slavery.

4.) The most straightforward way to accrue good points is donating to the Temple of Light. Do so in increments of 1000 gold so that you will maximize your gains. Each time you donate in this manner you'll gain 25 good points, where if you were to donate a larger sum the additions would not stack as profitably. You can also make "nice" decisions within numerous quests, and take on jobs such as Slave Rescue missions. Surprisingly enough, playing the lute also helps.
