At the risk of blatantly misusing the system I am now giving out free rep,
but I do expect compensation.

So people are getting rep for no reason at all... and thats meant to make them look as important as the people who actually did something to earn it and actually earn a good reputation... i think not...

Rep has nothing to do with "importance"... rep is meant to show how much others have appreciated your contributions to the community, whatever they may be... but rep does not make you any more "important" than you were before you got it...
and rep that isn't earned in any way would just be hollow... anyone can look in your profile and see what you got it for anyhow, and if it's for something like this, rather than seeming "important", you may seem a person who values shallow shortcuts over actually having to earn people's respect...
but maybe that's just me ;)

You may of just signed up to never be reped by anyone. You may want to retract your offer ASAP ;)
Rep is short for respect of which you have lost a bit with this thread. An honest mistake that I'm sure you'll live down.
