Furniture Problem (House of Slats in Brightwall)

Yeah so I'm doing up the House of Slats in Brightwall, the one that's basically right across the bridge from the square, and when I started with the upstairs it wouldn't let me swap the bed, sink or bedside table (I have have no idea why there's a sink there either). It's really bugging me 'cause i've been trying to find a nice house to keep my family in where they won't get maimed by balverines, mercenaries, or whatever and also where i can easily find them, hence why i'm ruling out the castle. PLEASE GUYS I NEED HELP! Haha, cheers for any replies.
