Gears of War 2...*sigh*
So Gears of War 2 has arrived. What a big disappointment, in a way. Hear me out:
The gameplay is awesome. Horde mode is awesome fun. But the campaign? While it's fun, there just isn't any point to it. Just like in Gears of War, we're left with the plot not really moving ahead at all.
The first thing they do is telling you "So, you know all that stuff in the original game? Yeaaaah... that sorta did nothing. Nothing at all. In fact, it somehow made the Locust Horde stronger! Yeah!".
Then we get to play - after countless cutscenes. Then you get to fight... for a bit. Then it's more cutscenes. Then some fighting. And so on. Seems that whenever you get all fired up, they tear it away from you by ending all action with a cutscene.
Then we've got the bossfights. Totally unecessary and boring. And horribly clichéd. I mean, a big octopuss attacking a boat? Seriously? Both General RAAM and the Berserker fights were interesting, and in the Bereker's case, innovate. But these bosses...jeesh. And what about the final boss? Me and my co-op buddy were just holding down both our trigger buttons, not aiming or dodging attacks or nothing, and 20 seconds later we beat the game?
Dubye-tee-eff?
Then we get another cutscene, once again telling us that the whole campaign didn't lead to anything at all.
I'll still enjoy the multi-player modes, especially Horde, but the campaign....meh.
