Glitch: Can't Move Unless Ranged Weapon is Drawn?
**UPDATE: problem solved!!! Here's how, if you have the same problem:
We determined that he HAD in fact just replayed the crucible and gotten a perfect 8/8--something I had asked him, and he had said "no." Significant others, I swear... So anyway, as I said, the spade trick hadn't worked for him. If it hasn't worked for you either, try what we did. I got us moving by joining as a henchman and having our ranged weapons drawn (which I describe in the original text below as being the only way we could move). We then went to Westcliff and re-entered the Crucible. We intentionally screwed up the first round by waiting for the target time to pass so that we wouldn't get a perfect 8/8. By about the 4th round, we were both moving freely again and upon completion of the Crucible his character was completely unstuck.
The lesson here is this: when your fiancee asks you if you just completed the Crucible with a perfect 8/8 rounds, think about it and TELL HER THE TRUTH! LOL. Thanks to everyone who viewed this and gave it some thought.
My fiance just finished the 50 gargoyle quest and played some online co-op with a friend (they did visit the Westcliff shooting range, but it was the owner of the game that did the shooting, not my fiance who was playing as the guy's henchman). He had also recently done the colosseum, which I only mention just in case it has some kind of bearing on the situation that someone else might be aware of. After returning to his game file, however, he was stuck in the ground and unable to move or do anything. We tried the "spade fix" that's all over the forums, and that worked to get his feet up above the ground, but he still couldn't move or do anything at all.
TODAY, however, I found an interesting way to get him moving. If I bring in a henchman character, it usually cannot move right away either. If I then pause as player 2, go back through config and accept, both the henchman AND my fiance's character can pull out their ranged weapons, which then gets them moving. As SOON as the ranged weapon gets put away, the character can no longer move. So basically I have been bringing in a henchman, getting the hero unstuck, quitting the henchman out, and then shooting the ranged weapon every 10 seconds or so to make sure he doesn't automatically put the thing away. So he can move now, but in a very limited way.
Another thing I noticed that may or may not have anything to do with this issue is the fact that "clothing" under the items menu still has an exclamation point icon, despite the fact that I have gone through every piece of clothing he has and none of them are new. Odd.
The following is a list of things we've tried to fix the glitch-y-ness:
-Spade (as I said before)
-Warping a lot
-Getting hit by enemies
-Getting killed by enemies
-Having another player commit a crime and then paying the fine
-Having another player commit a crime and then resist arrest
-Playing the lute
-Taking off all clothes and using the spade
-Drinking an XP potion
-Wearing a pink chicken suit (no, it wasn't suggested, but it was fun)
-Bringing in a henchman via couch co-op
-Bringing in a henchman via Xbox LIVE
-Bringing HIS character into MY game as a henchman (and beating the colosseum)
-Various expressions
-Button mashing (thanks Urahara)
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! I love Fable, but the glitches are constant. This is his second profile that has been hosed by one of these (the first being that famous "joining co-op while your buddy is still a child" game-killer).
(Oh, and I'm sure there will be a lot of replies that say "Sorry, start over." While that would be easiest, I am not a quitter just yet.)
