I already said in my post.

Yeah they just help index pages into search engines and help us appear in the results more thats all.

Without them we wouldnt appear in search results in the search engines very much.

Fresh content is like food for them...they eat it, spit it out in cached form for Google to index and then all the lovely spammers and potential new members come running along to make their mark on our boards.

The more regularly fresh content is churned out, the more frequently the spiders come out to play...if we never did anything to this site, they would still visit, only not as often and we wouldn't be placed anywhere great in the search engine results, unless we went black hat :ninja:
